What to expect when jackin idle up for wheelies

Yo, i've been practicng trying to do slow wheelies the last month... no real progress has been made for me..... i only learned how to clutch it up 1st gear left leg rear peg and right leg brake.... alot of people are telling me to jack up the idle........ i was running about 2k all this time but im thinking of going 3 or 3.5 .... i was just wondering what i should expect so i even be using to throttle to ride it out? thanks

Yeah...I bought one off of a 97 gixxer 600...It bolted up fine...Its a little short though...But it works, I can crank it up to redline if I want...It's alot of fun.

I run mine 3500-4000 for most stuff. make it easier to keep it smooth. Once you get it past the balnce point allyou gotta do is rock the rear brake. Don't have to give it any gas at all.

expect it to keep going directly into the nearest fixed object if you fall off but yeah it helps

your at a dead stop in neutral w/ your bike on...... your idle is what the rpm sits at when you are not gassing it.. usually its about 1-1.5krpm

ya, i hae mine about 4500 on my 929 and it works like a dream. once you snap it up i usually let off hte throttle and the idle will stay the same and i use the brake to control the wheelie...makes it easier than fighting the throttle.

I GOT AN 2002 GIXXER 1000 AND IT DOESNT HAVE A CHOKE COMPARED TO THE 2001 GIX 1000 .....I NEED A WAY TO ADD ONE ON SOMEWHERE SO I CAN TURN IT UP WITHOUT HAVING TO LIFT THE TANK EVERY DAM TIME......P.S. LEARNED AND BANGED OUT 3 12'S ON MY FIRST TIME OUT WITH A 12 BAR ON YESTERDAY ,LANDED 1 OUT OF THREE AND ALMOST RAN OVER MY CAMERA MAN ON THE ONE I LANDED !!!

you don't use your choke, you use the idle adjustment that is under the tank.

well i did it today.... i jacked up the idle little over 3k..... i was doing some real nice ones for awhile.... and just one time i went to a pretty good height but my body position was so off.... i was leaning way to much back that i couldnt hit the rear brake.... i scraped the tail twice and then it went over....like completely over... my windscreen and upper fairing stay is busted.... top of my solo seat cowl is scratched up....as for me i didnt even get a scratch.....it sucks cause i was suppose to let some interested buyer see the bike today..... looks like that gotta wait.... when doing slow wheelies are you suppose to hug near the tank? cause i had my legs extended and ****.... cant wait to get the bike together and practcie some more... the side of the bike was even damange cause it only tilted on the side after the bike went over competely straight.

well here is the pics.....

no upper fairing stay .... and im looking for any brake fluid resovior as a temp replacement.

yeah thats a 2k3 gauge cluster on my 97

sh*t i scrape the sh*t outta the tail... i scrape it twice before i fell off.... couldnt reach that damn rear brake pedal.

and da exhaust too.

this is how i can tell it went COMPLETELLY oVA(oddly it went SO straight that i didnt get any major fairing damages on the sides

since my left side was scraatched alreaedy from another accident i went and changed it to one black one i had haha

here is the tweaked upperfairing stay.... couldnt bend it back so i threw em away.

windscreen is **** up da ***

after all the spare parts put on....( still need a front master cylinder and a upperfairing stay.... gauge is questionable.)
here is how my bike looks now

errr now back to getting them slow wheelies down.... i need to practice w/ my friends dirt bike and get that damn rear brake control shti down!
