I've been told that turning the idle up burns up clutches real fast! Good example, I got 20,000 miles out of my first clutch, now that I've been turning it up, mine is slipping now just after 3000-4000 miles. If you can do it w/o turning it up, thats more gangsta if you ask me! I'm gonna gear the hell out of my bike now and start practicing w/o the idle cranked.

15000 miles on stock clutch and no problems..and i use idle like crazy. i don't see how it would burn it out if you let hte clutch out, 4k rpms is 4krpms whether a little **** is holding the bike open or your throttle is. what is probably hurting is is using the brake to drag down the rpms...when teh engine bogs like that, chances are the clutch is getting some work trying to stay engaged.

and, nice work on that bike. for wrecking a 12 you walked away good man...usualy it demolishes the bike. you gotta watch that brake. and yes, you are suppose to hang off hte bike so you have more leverage to move the bike. it's more stable that way.
