shifting question

what can happen to your bike if you don't squeeze the clutch while shifting?

You grind the transmission gears. If your Engine RPMs match the RPMs that the sprocket is going and there is no load or little load on the clutch plates, you can shift with out the clutch. Power shifters use a compressed CO2 or an electrical plunger called a solenoid to operate the shifter. The power shifter also cuts spark to the engine for a split second while it shifts to take the load off of the clutch. Confusing, but next time you are out riding with a buch of folks ask, and I am sure one of them can explain it.
