Steering wheelies.

Alright.. so.. this has been brought up in my little riders circle ehre in town.

When someone rides a nice, long distance wheelie, what is the technique to steer the bike? I have seen some great wheelies that could have gone a lot longer if the bike had not have drifted where the rider didn't want it to go.

so.. how do you steer the bike with one wheel up high in the air?

There are a couple of ways, based on what you are doing and your positioning. Sometimes you just got to lean your body and instead of looking over the front, you lean and look to the side you want to drift to. Your body weight will pull you that direction. Also, turning the wheel will help like a rudder on a boat. It will act against the wind and help you change direction as well. I would suggest pulling a wheelie and while its still straight and controllable go ahead and force it to move slightly and then try and get it straight again. Judgment Day 2 video has a sick clip of this guy pulling a wheelie from a stopped position and just yanking that b*tch back and forth like you would normally ride through cones. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!

If its just a little your trying to turn more or less just to move back over or something I steer with my feet on the pegs. If its to go around a corner you may have to lean your body off to the side.

just push on the peg in the direction you want to go.. Wanna go right, push down on the right peg... left.. left peg.. works like a charm

HAHAHHA that's almost true. I noticed that when I was learning to turn it took all my thought and energy....now I just think about where I want the bike and there it goes

DetroitStyle is a decent person
It's ALL about the foot pressure on the pegs. Once you get it down, you'll be changing lanes in traffic...

MAN is that ever fun!

I see how on standups peg pressure will make it turn... but how about sitdowns??? just lean?
