idle adjustment

Oh man it is a must!!!!
Today was the first time I had it on there and man did it make 12's easy. I will have no throttle hands on lock in a few days!!!
All I did was bought a piece of cable and soldered it to the idle adjustment screw (rought the screw up first so the solder sticks). The screw is just inside the tank on the left side of the bike (just pull the tank up and you cant miss it). Then ran the cable out so I can reach it easily when riding. I just let my cable hang out right between the clutch cover and radiator fluid resivoir but Digidy from PBR ran his out the hole in the frame.
PS......buy a stiff cable...mine twists too much so I gotta set it up better but it still works ok...
Later, Mellen

Is a idle adjustment screw needed no matter what? I have been trying no throttle hands without one. I didnt think that you needed one. Was I wrong? **** I hope so because those bitches are hard.

Is there anyway to just hook up the fast idle switch from a 2001 to a 2002?

yes but its a bitch!

first you have to get a new switch assembly from an 01' with the cables. The piece below is also different, where the cable mounts to the engine so you have to replace that too. Its almost not worth it unlewss you have easy access to the parts...otherwise just do it the poor mans way like me!!!!!! I'd like to switch it over though...much easier with the bar mounted idle adjustment.
later, Mellen

you dont need to soder a cable just take a throttle cable off of a 00 750 and it screws right in to the same place on the 1000s throttle body the screws are the same size thats what i did.

Could you elaborate on that? I don't quite follow. Thanks in advance.
