you guys weld your frames.... gimme some pointers.

Recently my frame has been cracking pretty hard. So I took it to my friends dad, and he welded it back. But now the welds are cracking. Should I get a metal plate, and try to weld that on as well? What would be the easiest way to make my frame 1 peice again. (its not cracked all the way through, but getting there)

You know how our bikes are, It doesn't need to look pretty. If you guys have any ideas, please let me know. I'm probably going to be doing it this weekend, or the next. thanks a lot.

sounds like a bad weld. if it was welded right, that weld should be stronger than the frame. did the guy tig weld it?

Yea, he grinded it down and everything. I don't know what its called. But, its aluminum so he had a big rod of it, and welded right on all the cracks. He probably didn't get all the way to the bottom of it. Cause there is a crack on the inside that is hard to get...

we had to take off the gas tank, and the breather box thing. I would hate to take the damn engine out to get in there. how annoying.. I dunno. I gotta figure it out though.

Sounds like it didnt get welded right. But, if your riding hard your weld is going to crack through 99% of the time eventually. Your best bet is either try to re weld it (make sure its done right, welding aluminum is nothing like metal) or just go get a new frame.

I know, I gotta look for a frame on ebay or something. Thats a bitch switching frames. I gotta find someone to do it though. Otherwise it'd be so much money

Exclamation ......

Call Levi at Land Air - ask him if Shaun Gulla will look at it - he is sick at fabricating / welding aluminum - he'd probably fix it for a reasonable price assuming he has time. DONT BUY A NEW FRAME!!!!!

$$$$$$$

Its got a couple places where it starting to tear. Up by the top, on the right and left side of the gas tank. Inside and on the outside of the frame. Kind of annoying to get in there and weld. Gotta take a **** load of stuff off. You'll have to look at it.

What days do you usually work Levi? i'll swing by sometime... you've gotsta check it out...

yea. the 6r is alright. but that kinda sucks... I guess I gotta take the engine out and give Sean the frame to weld. Its pretty cracked up near the front. But he said is would be about $200 wich is sweet.

I talked to Levi, and he said he's down for bombin our place in swanton. Its not the biggest place. but you guys should come check it out. your gettin some bikes at argo's i heard. thats cool...
