Re: Build my own cage

well which would you rather have, a little more stress on your mounts or replacing handle bars and levers all the time from the bike rolling instead of sliding lol. over all not to bad but another thing is that the back mount that is on the frame you hit hard enough its gonna ding your frame there. had a cage like that on my 636, pancaked the thing hard and yep dented the frame pretty good. I nvr built a cage for an r6 yet, but have done a couple for my 636. Nxt winter i will be doing another one if i crash bad again cuz atm the thing is bent and twisted to ****. Oh and another thing is motor mounts usually crack and break when you dont keep the bolts tight, well at least thats what ive been told and have done so far no problems. Im a cheap *** to so i make a lot of things on my bike to save bucks when i can. So far i built a couple cages, a subcage, round bar, hand brake mount, and last week i made up a set of rearsets cuz i broke one lol.

the best thing i can say is take a look at pics of whats out there and more or less copy it. i hate to say it but its the best way to go if your a cheapo like me. if i had the money i would buy the stuff to support the community but i dont so i do what i can

IMO, Some protection is better than no protection, better than just having frame slider not even frame sliders would help my bike cause my motor mounts are really high compared to other bikes.

Most definitely some protection is better then none, And like swampy said look around and and just copy and perfect. We are all here to learn and help each other, IMO
