636 engine price feeler
a friend of mine has an engine from an 04 i'm hoping to pick up from him. i'm just wondering if i sell my 03 w/12k miles what would be a decent price to ask for it. its started to have tranny issues. not sure if its shift forks or dog ears on one of the gears. also when you first start it it has a knock but then as it warms up it goes away.

So it knocks and the tranny is bad?
I'd just pull the stator/cover, clutch cover, throttle bodies, and anything else that's still good off it and pitch the rest in the dumpster.
or just give it to someone that can fix it.

it still has plenty of power. thought about spending $200 to replace shift forks and drum. i'd just throw new engine in and ride. was hoping to get like $300 for it. the covers are clean and no cracks. oil pumps from an 04.if i didnt have another one lined up i'd prob fix this one up

Re: 636 engine price feeler
i bought the one with 2000 miles for $800 and put it in myself. went pretty smooth for my first time. i had a vaccuum hose come off and didnt realize it till it was all together. but besides that bike ready to hit the streets. i'm gonna get the old engine ready to sell and maybe put it on craigslist. let them know it has some tranny issues. i also have video of it runnin i'm gonna put on youtube so they can check it out. If i sell it for $250 and they put $300-$400 in it, i dont think thats too bad for an engine.
