Exclamation CRASH-Bike and Rider's road rash (links to pics)

I found this on another forum. The guy was wearing the Joe Rocket Phoenix Jacket. I had one but I don't wear it anymore, my wife does ... I think it's time to get her a leather jacket, .

The guy made it but he shows his injuries the pictures are graphic, it's just road rash.

The bike...

The rider... WARNING! Skin Graft pictures!

Hopefully My fieldsheer TI mesh would hold up better than the joe rocket.

Mesh isn't going to hold up at speed, plain and simple. Leathers about the only way to go, even though it's hot as crap.

that really makes me feel lucky all the times i rode with just a short sleeve shirt on...oh well when you live in miami its hard to wear leathers all the time. I was gonna get a mesh jacket but it doesnt look like that helps too much more than just a regular shirt...poor guy

i used to have some textile joe rocket jacket, i can't remember but i think it was the comet or phoenix or something like that, it was pretty expensive, but the first time i wrecked in it, it shredded up like a **** and i got all sorts of road rash, now i just wear a t-shirt or my leather, no point in goin half assed

umm....ok, nylon melts when it heats up, it's not made to be leather. If you notice those jackets have pads all in them, that's basicaly why they are there, the padding. The nylon isn't made to stop the road rash but ot minimize the impact on your elbows and back. I wouldn't trust my phoenix jacket over 40mph, and i don't. I wear it when i'm rocking 12's and riding my fiddy cause i won't be sliding much. I've been down a lot on my jacket and it's saved me a lot of bruises and road rash at slow speed.

That's like buying a running shoe and expecting it to protect your feet like leather boots. It's going to provide the support of a shoe, but if you want protect you need something that won't burn off.

I highly recommend them because they do help more than nothing but if you get pinned under a car it's not going to stop that. Note i'm wearing mine in my avatar as i'm lying on teh ground.

I have this jacket but my wife is using it since I got a leather, so I am going to tell her she should get a leather too, she won't wear the leather though, maybe these pics will make her change her mind, .

people, the jacket works fine, i've been down many times on mine. If you get pinned under a car there really isn't anything that is going to save your ***, you'll still get burned through leather, it just takes longer.

a phoenix jacket is 20 times better than nothing.
