newb with a question
I am having trouble with wheelies, i have the basic concept down and have searched for the proper way to do them, but i think i might be a little too respectful of the bike ( ie. scared lol ) i have a 06 636 , all stock except akrapovic sp series carbon , no fairings w/ sliders , i get going in 1st , sitting down , pull in clutch , blip throttle, let out clutch, sometimes it only pulls up a foot or two, so i'll go again and again , but when i get it right ( or what i think is right ) it shoots right up , violently , and my automatic reaction is to let out of it, which promptly makes the front come down hard, how can i get over that intial feeling to let out of it when it jolts upwards? and is the 06 636 a good bike to learn this on? thanks in advance for any help to get over this.

The 636 is a very nice bike... A F4i might take the falls better but the 636 will do fine..
And for the rest...
Grow some ***** and keep at it.. It will come to you.. There is nothing you can read that will help this part..
As always... Seat time will fix it.

Weight should not hurt anything... Being tall makes a difference but i am 6'3 and had no problems other then on pull through stuff...
2 strokes will work but they are not the best... find your self a Crf50 ..

Yeah deff get a mini bike like a crf50 or even a klx110. You'll learn quickly and give you some experience with brake control...something a lot of people dont understand Even though a street bike is a totally different animal it'll give you a better understanding and some confidence.

I Loved my 50... But have by far more fun on the big bike.. Only thing i miss the 50 for is late night fun at home.. And i could kill it in the drive way
+ I have ran in to tree's, high sided, low sided, flipped stoppies in 3rd lopped in 4th... Gorilla scraped... Everything you can think of... and all i ever did was bend a shift lever and the bars and brake a few levers
I even made a spark show for a few of the huston guys on my trip down there flying down the street

to add to tc, keep tryin, and try standups. where you have your left foot back on the passanger peg, it shifts your weight and makes it easier (at least it did for me) and change your gearing a bit going up to like a 50t or 55t rear sprocket will help, and slow you down so "when" you crash its not as violent. ps. i hope your wearing gear, and be prepared to make friends with the asphault, it will happen

I would learn on stock gearing way less twitchy if you ask me... The 636 has plenty of low end power to learn on stock

yea i am wearing gear, got helmet and shorts, kidding, only thing i do not have is a nice set of pants, but i got gloves , helmet and jacket, i 've tried a couple times with my left leg on pass peg, but it feels very unstable to me right now, i could see how it could make it easier though, just not comfortable with that just yet

**** 50's are hard in their own way, I know plenty of people who murder sport bikes, and can't ride a wheelie 10 foot on a 50
I'd say learn brake control on a 50, or a quad! I taught my friend (who I thought would NEVER learn to wheelie) brake control in about 10 minutes on a quad..
After 3-4 wheelies he was bringing it behind balance point and jabbing the brake to bring it down

get some basics down on a 50, or small bike... or at least something you won't mind wadding up or throwing around. practice, practice, practice.
when you're bringing it up and think you've gone back too far, let it go a little bit more. always cover the brake.
