06 636 kleen air, NOT a HOW TO
did the clean air mod, simple. went out did some slow wheelies just to see if i still cud, and thankfully it came back no problem...all said and done no smoke came out the exhaust i had my idle set at about 2800 never went faster then maybe 15-20mph...k all is good..went out for a ride with a few buddies did a 2nd gear wheelie at about 10-11k the bike seemed to loose a lil power, the front end didnt slam down or anything just felt a lil weak i guess, i put the front down and lookd in my mirror to smoke coming out the exhaust. 1/2 mile later on two wheels smoking has stopped bike running fine...just curious how the hell oil got in there to cause smoke if i have no lines running from the crank case to the airbox...ideas?
i did the mod like this, i followed the instructions to a T

Why it only did when you was doin 2nd gear wheelies I dont know

The clean air mod redirects the crank case vents to the ehxaust through a set of 'reeds' that keep the exhaust from pumping back into your crank case.
Instead of oil dumping into your air box, it'll now dump into your exhaust.. It'll smoke, but no chance of hydrolocking, and no mess in the air box.

Also don't overfill your oil TOO much, that might help if its not overfull..

just put a breather on it and call it a day. problem solved, no oil in air box no smoke, over fill your oil. Hassle free 5 dollars at auto zone. (less work to , might i add)

Either smokey exhaust, or oil all over the place.

Something that might not hurt if your bike is smoking out out the muffler with a kleen air mod
Would be to get longer vent hoses, and route them towards the front of the bike, before tieing in to the normal kleen air mod..
That way the oil would have to travel all the way up before coming back down to the kleen air mod...
Or possibly, when it goes to the top/front of the bike, have all the tubes connect to a container.. That way the oil could drain back towards the motor, and just the air go to the kleen air
Of course, when you physically wreck, there isn't nothing you can do to stop the oil from coming out.. but for wheelies there has to be a work around

all you have to do is disconnect and plug the vacuum line from the back of the valve and the stock valve acts just like a t valve and that way you dont have to disconnect any other vacuum lines ..

Yea you can put a couple more elbows in the line so its not a straight tube into crank case, put some little sponges in there also will help soak up oil

oh and ya like a few people mentioned dont fill your oil past the top of the site glass and you usually wont get any smoke unless you leave it on a short bar for too long and if you do get smoke then it is just going out the exhaust not going in your airbox

Re: 06 636 kleen air, NOT a HOW TO
here is the easiest way to do this mod , pics are from lky
join these 2 hoses
unplug and block hose (A)
[i just stuck a long skinny screw in the vacuum line]
block off the holes left in your airbox and you are done ..

Re: 06 636 kleen air, NOT a HOW TO
I shoved some sponge in the tube to the exhaust vent, not enough to stop air but enough to slow down the oil going to the exhaust. Worked like a charm. Be sure there is something holding the sponge in place, you don't want a fire in your exhaust.

no the case will build pressure and the weakest link will blow. ive seen shifter seals blow out of a gsxr before. (kinked breather)

Re: 06 636 kleen air, NOT a HOW TO
damn this sight is still usefull thanks guys...yah it was reall boggling me only way ive ever had a bike smoke is to pump oil into the airbox through the throttle bodies. i didnt know this mod vented oil into the exhaust i thot it just vented it back into the crank case like a giant loop..i know it only smokes at higher rpm wheelies cus theres more pressure in the case..what the best way to change this?
