that guy on ripley's that rides backwards races at the flat-track raceway here locally. he has actually raced people on his flat track bike backwards. he also did those huge jumps backwards for ripley's. He's a cool guy and does backwards wheelies on his flat track bike for a long distance.

someone asked if carl had done it before....he has, jeff and him went to starboyz stuntfest, he did it there a few times, and its on tape. Carl was the king of riding backwards, he could do it anywhere at any time, in any short distance. i met him two weeks before the accident, when i heard i couldnt believe it. then i started riding with jeff, trying to deal with our loss. jeff and carl were the best of friends, they were in-seperable...i remember seeing those two riding around town before i even had my bike.
and just like laura said, it didn't look all that bad of a crash, its just the way your body hits the ground.

Carl is the man, i think of him all the time, he is missed greatly around our town and by all the stunters who knew him.

Rest in Peace Carl, I miss you bro...

Re: Backwards Wheelie?

The Backwards wheelie!! I am a friend of Carl's from connecticut. I have rode with him way before he attempted the "backwards" wheelie. He was one of the most skillfull riders i have ever met.I was just an ammature stunter then, and I learned alot from him.My suggestion is,if you have nothing or no one to live for than that is the only reason why you should even attempt this trick. The fame, glory, addreniline rush or what ever reason you try this trick for is not worth it.I am a stunter at heart and i cant ride not one day without pulling some kind of **** on my bike but there must be a limit to everything we do in life.If your ready to exceed that limit than you must be ready to die!Im not saying that this stunt can not be performed but what im saying is be ready for the conciquences that may happend, because this person carl that you here of did in fact die from it and did leave behind family that im sure wished that he would have never tried this stunt.

Re: Backwards Wheelie?

many years ago the stunts that are happening now were deemed impossible, circle, high chairs, no handers were impossible, the back flip on a dirty bike was impossible, and certainly trying a backflip on a snowmobile was deemed impossible, but all these stunts have been acheived and more, so when does it stop??? its amazing what can be acheived when someone decides to go against other peoples opinions on what they think is impossible, and just go for it. Sure some times things go bad, but we all know the risks, and as they say it's not sad to die doing something you love, so i dont think anyone should think such a stunt as impossible, but rather think of ways to learn it the safest way possible.

O by the way, (obviously) my name is scott, i live in aussy land, im a fat ugly bastard with an R1, and all i can do is sit down wheelies for 1/2 mile, but im lovin it and i can only get better, so pleased to meet you all
