Setup advice 01-03 gsxr
Well theres no stunt scene were i live so i need some online help. I have an 03 gsxr 600 thats super clapped out with a cage and flipped clipons and a sprocket (bought it like this in fl). Im looking into making it a decent stunt bike and make it nice. I could only find info on 04/05 setups. I wanted to know about sub frame reinforcment and is there any problems with the oil starvation on long wheelies? Any help would be great Thanks.

Figured out the oil pickup issues apparently gsxr's are the worst. Cant find one for sale since stuntex appears sold out. Anyone got one for sale or can i have a machine shop make one?

well ur probably gonna get flamed on here. But fuckit, stunt it. I had one. U need a pickup or its toasted... Make sure u keep the castle nuts on your steering stem TIGHT, cuz the goosneck breaks just lookin at it on that bike. good luck. Sub frame is weak, frame is even weaker, but i learned FB O's on that bike so give her hell...

im not sure, but you might be able to cut and flip the stock pickup on that bike. It should be two pieces, if u take the front part off the pickup, and flip it around it might work... dunno. I had a stuntex.

you can just make a pick up for pretty cheap .. it may not be the best thing but you can get it to work and it wont cost you shyt but if u want it to be official then just keep your eyes open youll find one for sale ... hmmm maybe i should make em for that bike and start selling em

Subframe on that bike is real weak but they seem to always break in the same spot bby the weld in the front where it bolts to the frame so its easy to rig a fix for it... As far as the oil pick up goes, If you have guages jus everytimre the oil light comes on bring the bike back down you should be good till you get a pick-up... Put a bit of extra oil in the bike for now.... Its a big bike but i used to have one too, learned a lot on it... Most common prob youll have is the stator and recitifier, the plug connections on them fry and get F'ed all up and are a bitch to come apart ...
Thats all i can think of for now, except change out the fluid on the stock dampner or get a aftermarket stabilizer

I stunted an 03 gixxer 600 for years. Its what i learned circles on and everyone knows how much a bike goes through with that.. I had the stuntex oil pickup, an FI cage and shortened FI 12 bar, the original Fullthrottle billet handbrake valve block with a brembo 16x18 master, MSR raptor perch, LSL dirtbike bar kit (badass), and a hard wired fan switch.
Two things happened to my bike that put it down for a few weeks. One was I broke a rear set tab off the frame, so i shortened the footpeg so that it wouldn't touch the ground. Two, I pancaked the bike by highsiding a circle wheelie and it landed directly on the frameslider part of the cage and it bent, which cracked the motor mount on my head. I had to basically replace the motor.
I would seriously recommend an oil pickup. You can blow your motor in less than a month without one. My gixxer had one from the beginning and it had 20K miles and still ran perfectly. The only other thing that kinda sucks about the bike is that the gas tank is huge.
Oh yah, you could easily have a machine shop fabricate you an oil pickup. It basically is a short tube that points straight down from the mounting point. The oil light would come on during long hard braking, but i've never had a problem.

The whole oil pickup thing is still sketching me out though....think i might just wing it and see what happens i mean my bike has 44xxx miles on it so its on its way im sure.
Other than that 2 cracks in the frame had to be welded : ( and the subframe was somewhat reinforced as soon as i break it a steel one is goin down.
Hopefully next week i can slap it back togather and just ride it like i intended but theres just to much issues that need to be adressed.

make a bar that goes from your footpeg top bolt to the 12 bar mounting bolt. Itll save your subframe and the tabs on the frame from breaking. The frame will crack right by the intake tube things, be ready for that. lmk you need anything for it.

idk man i guess gsxr frames are famous for that. i know a kid that wrecked an 06' gsxr 750 and the front end broke at the neck where it welds to cast but he was goin waaaay fast so theres no excuse for that.......cant blame suzuki for riding like an idiot

For that bike i had a powers cage, an i honestly cant say anything bad about it cause the bike went through abuse but the cage took it an never gave me a prob commin on or off
