600rr setup help?

Hey I just picked up a 2003 600rr and just wondering about the clean air mod and also the idle problem I'm not sure if the idle problem applys to my bike. But if u guys could send me some links or give me some how to knowledge so I can get this ready for spring. If anyone knows of anything else I should do to it please let me know thanks

Re: 600rr setup help?

Not sure about the clean air mod on that bike, The main things you should do in my opinion is:

1. Fan switch, keep that fan on at all times.. I had mine overheat alot.

2. gas tank is a pain and takes forever to get it to look good. I think there is a how to thread on here and I posted pics of mine.

3. The stock idle cable will not idle it up, if you twist it too far you can get it stuck. If you pull the tank and air box off you can see where it needs to go. There is a stop screw on the top center of the throttle bodies that you can remove and thread in the idle screw. then you can route the cable out front of the tank. There is a thread on this as well.

Bike looks cool as hell but I just couldnt get a feel for mine. Good luck man!

Re: 600rr setup help?

the 600 rr's have the worst rear peg position of all bikes , im only 5'9 and even im cramped on that bike when using the rear pegs thats why i move the rear pegs down back and out on all 600rr omr subcages , gives you alot more room ..

hit me up if you decide you want an omr subcage , i have them in stock for $175 shipped

you can see some pics and get some info if you click the link below

and as for the nasty rear pegs. im 6'3 and i hated my life on that bike id DEFINITELY suggest omr sub cage DO IT. its a great bike once its propperly set up

yup ive seen them get stuck and break off , it's a pain in the *** too ..lol a little silicone spray during instalation to the idle cable and the threads should probably keep it from happening , wd 40 is good but some times dries up

y would you want to weld your 12 bar in
what happens when its caked an you gotta change it? then you have to cut the welds off and redo them an it'll be a mess

well im workin with stock exaust so not really worried about cutting off round bar and redoing, i had it mouted to sub frame and it broke tabs and sub stayed loose so i welded to exaust and its very very strong and i have gorilla scraped it a few times and sub is still tight

Re: 600rr setup help?

Ya 12 bar looks pretty good welded and didn't have to hack up the tail at all. i ordered the cable for the swap gonna do that next week. Also working on my own dual caliper bracket see how that goes...
