im looking at A 04CBR600RR and the guy said the valves are ticking he said it has 11000 miles on the motor i think it is the cam chain tensioner what do yall think it is?

 

it might be the baseball cards in the spokes

 

could be,but the valves might need to be lashed also,get a steathascope (SP?) and see where the tick is the loudest,near the head or near the CCT.Or you could use a screwdriver instead on the same two spots and put your ear on the other end to hear where it's louder.Not everyone has a steathescope layin around,I always use the screwdriver method.

OR THE BASEBALL CARDS COULD BE THE PROBLEM ALSO.BWAHAHAHAHA

 

ok thanks i had a f4i and it has a ticking noise and all it was was the cct i put a manual ape in and never had any problems after that

 

same with my f4ez

 

is the cam chain on the left or right on a rr i no f4i is on the right the guy said it has a loud noise on the left

 

actually cct on the rr is easy to get to. its on the brake side of the bike .

how do i tell if it is the valves and not about to throw a rod bearing or somthing???

 

bang it off the limiter for a minute and see if the motor lets go or the sound gets worse. if he doesnt let you do it dont buy it. not joking

 

how hard is it to put new valves and they guy said its a loud noise when its running

 

you have to pull the head, do yourself a favor and look for something else if it was a cheap or easy fix this guy would of done it already. chances are he is hoping that somebody will take it off his hands

yea its a 04 600rr with 05 motor he was asking 2000 and i told him i would give him 1000 and he jumped all over it so thats what im worried about

 

check the title status , you can part that bike out for more. walkaway

so you wanna pay 1000 for a 04 600rr that has an unknown engine noise, that doesnt have a title. unless the body is minty mint you are wasting your money
