Has anyone ever seen this before????
I have a 03 R6. The problem started when the neutral light was not coming on... no big deal. Now the tach does not work in Neutral??? It works fine the moment i shift into gear but once i pop it back into Neutral again the tach drops back to 0 RPMs and doesn't move till back in gear. The light is still not working either. I have tried checking the cable that goes into the tranny and that seem to be fine the wiring harness is brand new and i have not had any issues with the gauges.
Has anyone ever seen this on any bike before and if so where you able to fix it or see what caused it.
Please let me know this is not a huge problem right now, just makes setting my idle a pain in the ***. I really don't want it to get worse.

I would of guessed neutral light switch at first. But with the rev counter not working? I'd check all the wiring properly as it sounds like a loom fault. Any access to a fault code reader?

wiring i would say....... give it all a good inspection.... what mods does the bike have
look online for a wiring diagram in the manual..
find every wire coming from the tach and neutral light..
inspect every thing in the circuits...
i might be wrong but thats where i would start..... since its a light and and a tach i would say its a electrical issue

Your supposed to set your idle when it's in first gear with the clutch pulled in,Your problem is not a problem anymore sir,YOUR WELCOME.LOL Haven't you ever noticed that your idle drops when you click it into gear??? Thats why you set it while it's in gear...
