seat covering. pro vs diy

gonna recover the seat on my 636 soon. deciding if I want to do it myself or take it to an upholstery shop.

for the people that have taken the DIY route... can you tell me some good materials to look for?

thanks.

if you stand and move around alot on the seat just make sure you get something tough... there are so many fabrics and types of leather and vinyls out there to use... its kind of a personal preference on what material you want to use... whatever you choose make sure it will hold up with your ride style

well a shop has the proper tools and they make the seat fit nice and tight vrs by hand its hard to make it a tight fit but its cheaper unless you **** up

yeah a heavy duty hand stapler can do it but it takes longer and you need good staples that dont bend as easy

covered my seats a few times... need an extra set of hands and a good staple gun... let the vinal sit out in the sun or get warm to strecth out nice, try eBay for seat covers that are already cut out to the pattern... then just remove and reapply

Re: seat covering. pro vs diy

Strictly, yeah I thought about some run of the mill marine grade stuff. then I searched around online and there is all sorts of stuff for under ~$40 yard X 54".

loogie, those seats are pimpin!

a guy on the KC forums had his seats done by a local upholstery shop and they dont look too bad. but he's not standing or jumping around on his seats. I dont really want any embroidery work done... but some kinda exotic or annoying looking material would be cool by me.
