Re: adding a thumb throttle??

On streetbikes, you have a push cable, and a pull cable. One pulls the butterflies in the throttlebodies or carbs open, and then when you let off, the spring is supposed to close them. If it doesnt, the push cable can physically force them closed. Streetbikes have 2 cables, dirtbikes have 1. My guess its a liability/insurance reason.

You only "NEED" the pull cable. the other is a safety feature. I ran a 929 with only 1 for a year or so without issue before I sold the bike.

thats what i was thinkin.... just needed the pull cable, as long as the springs work well on the carbs... thanks for the 2nd opinion

Re: adding a thumb throttle??

Just run the pull cable and get rid of the push. I have a 400ex throttle on my f4i. bolted right up no mods needed besides grinding the stop in the throttle housing so i could get more push from it
