John Paola's sister
True and factual update.
I am John Paola's sister, Amy. I appreciate everyone's feedback and concern for John. I just wanted to set the facts straight regarding John's accident.
John is 25 years old. He has a 6 year old daughter from his first marriage and a one and a half year old stepson with his current wife, Arlene. He was planning a move to Las Vegas to be near his wife's family and brother.
John was not being "recruited", he was just riding with a group of friends at the time of the accident. John rode often and was always cautious when stunting.
John arrived at the hospital Monday, July 28 in the evening. Upon arrival he had no blood pressure. Luckily Plainfield paramedics were within moments of the accident, and were able to save him before it was too late. His legs were severed by the guardrails and he lost nearly all of his blood. Luckily he was, as always, wearing his helmet, but the impact of the landing fractured his right arm in two places, and fractured his left hip. John had surgery on Friday to pin, plate and screw his arm and two pins were placed in his hip. His surgery went well, but has experienced expected blood clotting, and is now recovering from that.
He is in good spirit and thanks all his friends and family for supporting him in these really hard times. John is a great guy who has always been there for everyone around him. Now he needs everyone to help him. To those who know him, help John the way he would have helped you.
Because his hospital stay will be long and trying, the bills are going to add up. As mentioned, he has a wife and children to support as well. His family is already in the process of organizing fund raisers, and we will let you know when more information comes forward.
Donations are welcome, as well as your kind words of support. Please contact me at AKAUCICH@COMCAST.Net Thanks again to all his friends who have come forward in support.

Please be careful. Lots of motorcycles going down in Chicago lately. I hope this guy is OK. It will be rough but his life can return to normal. My prayers are with him and his family and friends at this time.

Rider Down
I was looking for the family's post about John Paola, but can't seem to find it anywhere. I thought I would add what I could. My niece is John's daughter. The poor baby is only 7 years old and her daddy has lost his legs. It really is a horrible thing. Maybe this will make the rest of you think twice. My heart goes out to John, his family, and my niece, Cheyanne, all who share in his loss. I understand that a trust was set up for prosthetics. I hope everyone will contribute what they can, and most importantly to continue to support John through rehab, to ensure he will not be a fallen rider forever.
