Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

Ok, the setup: i bought this 07 gsxr 750 and set it up to stunt. got everything set up so it works for me, except my clutch. i had flipped and swapped the clip ons and recently switched to dirt bars but it made no difference as far as my issue goes. I do have the moose easy pull, and thanks to the advice of OMR, i recently got to doing the clutch arm mod, but made no difference whatsoever on the pull. my boy Fuzzy and i went through the steps finding any type of binding from arm on up. cleaned and lubed the cable, checked to ensure routing is good and no major turns, kinks, or binding, cleaned the lever and its rollers as well as having the cable into lever set up properly, and still have this problem. I am the 3rd owner of the bike, my old roomate(who i bought it from) did no internal upgrades or changes, and when he got it, it only had 8k miles on it. the springs being changed did cross my mind, but i seen them a few times when i was doing things internally and they seemed to be the stock springs, but their is a possibility i could be wrong. is it just me or is gsxrs terrible for tough clutches? im lost and open to any ideas. thanks in advance.

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

well,it could really only be a couple of things..more than likely you have a bad cable....other than that check to be sure that the arm mod isnt rubbing anywhere...that the routing is loose..and if still having prblems take the clutch pack apart and make sure the plates arnt fused together or broken..and the springs are good..but like i said prolly just a cable.

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

so what are the symptoms? no pull, inconsistant pull, wont shift??

check the clable tension by the clutch itself, myaybe bad plates.

im runnin stock plates on my 04, with 20k street miles & 3 years of lots still goin strong. but its easy to ruin on a clutch on any bike.

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

My bad(had a drink or two tonight, lol), my problem is stiff pull, not stuck, or really tough, but lets just say i went to practice after three months off and my finger litterally couldnt pull after about half an hour(normally practice wouldnt last that long with this bike due to a poor set up for myself), so its not a sitting issue, i did make it a point to start and run the bike every week or two just to keep everything in good working order. we have not seen anything sticking, rubbing, catching. to me it seems as tho is internal somewhere, just not sure if its a gsxr thing, or maybe im missing something somewhere and not realizing it.

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

Is you moose easy pull on the last setting?, u can check how the cluth cable is going through you easy pull, sometimes it can get binded that aligning canal.

Also, sounds like your finger is not conditioned yet....

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

yea, like i said, have no binding anywhere. true my finger isn't conditioned due to my lack of practice, but their is no reason why it should be this tough.

springs should only cost like $20, I'd just get some and make sure that isn't the problem..

Also did you inspect the basket for wear? Notching where the plates ride

And are you SURE the ez pull is on the ez setting? The one CLOSEST to the bar without the cable binding?

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

Definitely check all the things everyone have said so far. There's really not too much that goes wrong. The only issue I had with my last GSXR was the clutch cable housing lining went bad. A little trick for that is to use an F4i clutch cable which works great. That eliminates the the steel bends Suzuki uses on the ends of the cable housing and reduces binding/stress on the cable against the inner housing liner.

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

The cable slides fine with no binding or rubbing. yes ez pull is on ez setting closest to bars and no binding or rubbing in the housing. so far everything is pointing to internal. as soon as i can i will go kick the bike over and get into clutch housing, may as well replace springs while im in there if that cheap, and will inspect for other wear or issues. thanks again for the help all.

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

That Moose EZpull is a turd. Just fork out the money and pick up an MSR Raptor, it's the best investment for a clutch mod. On an f4i or 03-04 636 you can extend the clutch pivot arm a half of an inch with 8th" steel plate, a few holes and a little modification. No B.S. you can pull your clutch easily with one finger. The clutch full engages and disengages, saves your cable life and your wrist. Do this with the Raptor and you got double easy pull. Not sure how you would do it on the GSXR, that whole rotating clutch mechanism is retarded to me.

Re: Gsxr clutch issue, WTF???

Hey bro pull the clutch in put it in first while holding the clutch in rev it up and see if it trys to pull forward in if so the ur steel plates are bad on ur clutch pad.
which can cause binding and hard to pull .

With that many miles, your basket is most likely grooved fairly good, that'l make the clutch not feel right, not want to properly disengage or possibly not fully engage

It could be something else, my clutch still feels pretty good on my f4i at 40k.. But yours could be more worn then mine
