Steering stabilizer

So im starting to shop for a steering stablizer as i had a pretty wicked tank slapper the other day, my first one actually. im fairly poor, scotts/gpr/ohlins dampers are all $$ but nice.

is there anyone that adapted a stock one, say 600rr/1000rr? i know these arent adjustable, and are mostly there for high speed wobble correction, but would it still function fairly well? obviously the scotts/gprs will perform better, as you pay for quality, but is it worth trying?

Re: Steering stabilizer

What did you get a slapper from? Railing corners hard? High speed straight line? Endo's? setting down fast wheelies?

For basic riding, making a OEM gsxr damper fit your bike, and refilling the damper with heavier weight fluid works nice, lot's of people do that.. Of course it isn't good as a high end damper, but it is better then nothing

But if your getting slappers from high speed straight line, or real bad in corners, then your suspension probably just needs setup better..

Re: Steering stabilizer

f4i's really seem goofy to me the way they are geometrically designed but i love em cause they are just butter for circles and as lot bikes. they shouldve put dampners on em for sure. rolling a stoppie without one is scary and the steering feels as loose and easy as when the front wheel is off the ground.

Re: Steering stabilizer

man try and score a used aftermarket damper. I got mine on here, wasnt brand new, but worked fine, and it was half price from new with all the ****. took me a while to score a deal, but theres at least a new damper on here for an F4i once a week in the parts for sale section.

Both are excellent dampers. With the GPRs you just need to have GPR put the heaviest oil they have in them and they work great. My only issue with the HyperPros is the seals leaked.... But then again, so did one of my GPRs......

Yeah I hear ya but you don't have to crank on them super tight to get a stiffer steering setup and if you adjust your triples towards each other it helps. Motocross has been doing it for years... I dunno, I have a hyperpro but I was thinking about putting in new neck bearings and checkin it out on the stunt piece. It might be a poop shoot

Re: Steering stabilizer

i think 200ish for a gpr is butter, i mean when they are 450 new, and then you get the quality of the aftermarket stabilizer. just all about waitin and findin the deal IMO

Re: Steering stabilizer

Are you that poor that you can't get a good damper? You have a bike it's worth more that a damper...I say just get a quality damper you'll be happy!
I have a scotts and love it! Running stock position clipons on my 636 and hate it either gonna flip them soon or get DB's.. So might have to go with a hyperpro! Any other good dampers that I can use with DB's?
