01 Gsxr750 engine, keeps blowing up
I have a 01 gsxr 750 that I ride wheelies for about 3 miles avg., but I keep fu(king up engines. I have been through 2 engines so far. On the first one the wrist pin bearing let go, the second one the valve started sticking. I run about a half a quart over, sometimes on my wheelie the revs get pretty high (rev limiter). Has any one else had problems with 01 gsxr 750 engines or does anyone know what I can do to prvent this **** from happening every 3 weeks. I heard about a mod that changes your oil pick up tube, but i don't think that will help cause my bike never loses oil pressure (the oil light never comes on) when I'm on the back wheel. I might just be having a run of bad luck with engines. The only thing good to come of this is, I getting really good at changine engines.

man.. you cannot ride miles at or near the revlimiter. Especially on the gixxers. You should be running no more than 10K rpms in 2nd on a 750. I have blown my share of motors too and I have learned the hardway that gixxers do NOT like the rev limiter at all. If you are riding freeway wheelies, switch to 3rd gear and if you get over 10K rpms, learn how to crank it back a little and slow down or let the wheelie down and start over. Your motor will last a long time if you keep the wheelies under 10K rpms.

I just don't get it? The only reason I would ride a long *** wheelie like that would be if a camera is rolling. But to do 3 mile wheelies on average? Why? And at the rev limiter?
I'd rather roll 500 ft at 5mph.

Used to, every time I would go somewhere I'd ride a wheelie just for the heck of it, by myself a lot of times. I don't know what to tell ya on the engine. I had 18,000 miles (gearing was changed so it was probably like 15,000 miles) and my bike was always about 1K off of limiter for miles on in, in second. When I first started learning the only way I would put it down was if the bike was in limiter and I couldn't shift it in time. I started having trouble with my engine after that many miles, and I think all I did was blow some rings, and I had about half an inch of standing oil in the airbox, so it smoked when decelerating. My bike was the 02 600 though, have heard bad things about the 01 750's..

Yeah i know i shouldn't be even close to rev limiter. i try to stay around 8-9k if i can. I even take it past the balance point to slow me down, however on occasion I **** up and start edging toward the rev limiter cause i'm trying to hold it. You know that feeling you get when you ride a long *** wheelie, almost like all is well with the world , thats why i ride them on avg 3 miles. my rear brake control is not good enough yet for slow **** .... i gotta get my high some how. i just didn't know if any one modified their bike oil system. I heard some guy in texas sell a kit.

My motor is ticking hard on start up now. after it warms up over 170°f it shuts up tho. I think I'm about to be in your shoes
I ride wheelies around 9k for distance most of the time. I also have 10k miles on it that I put on in 3 months so I'm not trippin too hard on it.

its also a gixxer, they are noisy, my SRAD made a ticking noise all the time, had the valves done, didn't go away, but the shop said it was fine. my girl's 02 SV 650 makes noise too, i think its just a suzuki thing.

Ya know I heard this funny saying when I showed up at a party at a honda rider's house. He had a honda banner and a yamaha banner hanging up, so someone asked where the suzuki banner was and he said "it's in the shop"

gixxers tick.. that doesnt mean they are gonna blow. Now if you hear some knockin going on, then its gonna blow. But it will tick for 20K miles. As long as you stay the hell away from the revlimiter the gixxers will last quite a while. If it ticks real loud, adjust your valves. I dont know anyone who adjusts their valves. They just ride it until it drops a valve. Morons.. Adjusting the valves is so easy. All you need to do is get a manual and be able to do simple math to figure out what size shims you need to go buy. Alot of shops will give you whatever size shims you need for free if you give them your old shims.
