The rim mounted rotors were pretty sweet. Went to a HD open house and the 1125R with the full fairing kit looked pretty sweet other then the triple mounted clipons.

Re: Buell to shut down

My first bike was a sportster as a teenager, after getting smoked by my friends w/ sportbikes and crashing it (you could only lean over so far before you scaped peg or case hard enough to pick the back wheel up off the ground and then you were fucked) got old I rode Buells for a few years before moving on to Hondas. The Buells were never as light, as fast or reliable as the sportbikes from Japan but that wasn't the point, they were different, so for me part of the appeal was having somehting that isn't mainstream. Anyway, it's a sad commentary on the industry and the economy that has affected it. Like Dan says, they were first in line when it came to use stunting in their marketing and sponsoring the sport, so it's sad to see them go.

Re: Buell to shut down

anytime you see an industry leader closing it sucks. like the bikes or not it is just a sign of the times. if no one like the bikes they would have not been around for 26 years. somebody like them. just sucks to see that many more people out of work.

Damn we got a Buell sponsored bike this year, I guess it will be hard to find parts now, it was already hard as it is. Took forever to get a part. Now it's all gone!

Re: Buell to shut down

I could have bet that would have happened after that ugly *** 1125 r thing came out. its a shame because i loved the xb's and the firebolts . they always had a bit of design flaws in my opinion. its def a shame though being the only mass produced american sportbike maker is goin under

what, thats supposed to be some type of personal attack or something? Now im supposed to post pics to prove i know how to ride a bike or to show that i own a rr or whatever? lol ur funny!

the company didnt go under overnight, they had to have been operating at a loss for sometime before that decision was made.

elaborate on what u mean by my post is nothing but nonsense, then explain to me why there going out of business other than the fact that people arent buying their bikes.

Bottom line is this is a superficial world, and i doesnt matter how good something may or may not be on the inside. If something doesnt appeal to someone asthetically then 9 times out of 10 there not going to get it. and that goes for everything including relationships.

If ur running a business then the bottom line is money, so you should produce what sells, not what u like personally for yourself or what a handfull of people would like because its different. Buells been around for a while and should have agressively pursued the sport bike market since the late 90's to compete with the japanese bikes and put something in a good package! its just like bmw realized that even with their strong brand name the bikes there making arent gonna cut it. Why u think they developed their new 1000rr?

honda, kawasaki, yamaha & suzuki all make other classes of bikes that are "different" bikes that i dont necessarily like. but they recognize that the sport bike market is their bread and butter, why couldnt buell understand that basic concept and diversify?

I suppose you have a degree in marketing, business, and engineering/design and you hold the answers to all of Buell's problems. They should have hired you to build their company from the bottom up...

perhaps they should have! you dont see me here complaining that my company's going under? sometimes people dont like to hear the truth thats why i stand by so often and just keep my mouth shut and watch people over and over make bad decisions when i could have advised them otherwise to begin with.

Because that "who are you to be giving me advice" attitude is so widespread in todays society that its just sad. People are so arrogant in these times, thats why i just rather stand by and watch the world burn. and burn it will. but in the mean time wheelies!

Re: Buell to shut down

I find it hard to believe you could compare your company, whatever it may be to Buell. What's sad is at least 200 people directly lost there jobs from this, indirectly who knows how many people it will affect. But who cares because the motorcycles were ugly right? ...

Re: Buell to shut down

Its a sad time for the motorcycle industry. They are not the fastest bikes in the world but one of the coolest bikes to ride. My XB9CityX is a bike I will always have in my garage and its a blast to ride.

There are a couple of awesome good shops out their who dedicate their business to Buells and aftermarket parts. Going to be sad to see what happens to them also. I know I will be effective somewhat as I have done a decent amount of business in Buell aftermarket parts.

If Buell made better looking bikes....those 200 people would still have jobs
