if he hasn't done the kleen air mod, it's possible that he has oil in the engine. Pull the plugs out and try to turn the bike over. If it spits out a bunch of oil, put the plugs back in and you're good to go. If it doesn't work, as least it's free to try what I mentioned.

did you reinstall the gasket? or did you use cylicone? you need that thin gasket in their for clearance. samething happened to me.

good way to check it is to loosen the bolts holding the cover just a **** hair and then try to start it, thats how i figured out my problem

Sorry but that makes no sense. If it cranks, then it turns over. Do you mean it's turning over but won't start?

yup well before it wouldn't crank at all, once i loosen the clutch cover bolts it cranks but it wont turn over. (it wont start)

First thing, is the fuel pump running when you turn on the key? Check that your tip sensor is not screwed. Taking a hard hit will sometimes bind them up inside.
