opening a locked gas cap ???

Re: opening a locked gas cap ???
pound a flathead screwdriver into the lock, then turn that with big pliers. Once you do that and destroy the locking mechanism, you can use a small screwdriver or any key to open it.
You can continue using it after that btw, no need to buy a new cap/

Some people do mean **** for no reason. I know of gas that has been stolen, sugar put in tanks, tanks pissed in for god's sake. Also the screwdriver method can draw attention. A buddy of mine had his 636 stolen and when it was recovered he had to use a screwdriver to open the fuel door. While fueling it at a gas station a cop noticed and my buddy was arrested at gun point and it was all a HUGE hassle for no reason

Most every cop would walk over and find out what he's doin and why he's using a screwdriver,or ask for his registration and insurance,(not point a gun at him)sounds like your boy is full of **** if thats what he told ya,and if he did get arrested it sure as hell wasn't only because of a screwdriver in a gas cap,Hmmmm...yup..this story is just what it sounds like, a story, most cops are ****** but seriously man, can you honestly picture this happening for "no" reason.

There was a screwdriver in the ignition. But it was HIS bike. And cops can pull there gun for a suspected felony stop. I've had them pulled on me just to ask why I was carrying a gun even though VA is a VERY liberal state when it comes to gun laws... COps here are ******... I know

So they saw him tryin to fill his tank with a screwdriver, immediately pulled out their guns, didn't ask any questions, and just arrested him eh?and your boy didn't say anything to explain,or show proof it was legally his?I don't know man, sounds jacked up to me.If it is true, then your state's law enforcement is seriously fucked up you probly should move to Detroit where it's common practice to use screwdrivers for any and every vehicle.

I call:,GUNPOINT? COME ON MAN!!How did the bike run with no key, did he start it with a screwdriver too or hot wire it everytime he rode?nobody gets arrested for "NO" reason,I highly doubt a cop is gonna pull a gun on him and arrest him just cause he stuck a screwdriver in a fucked up gas cap at a gas station.

Get a square/hex shafted screwdriver, think it's a #2, and hammer it into the lock. Then grab it low on the shaft as close to the tank as you can get and turn the screwdriver with a crescent or vise grips etc. and force the lock open.
If it's a POS you can leave it like that and any shaft small enough to fit in there will work the lock. If it's kind of nice you can take the lock apart, take the tumblers out, and shape them back into position while matching them to your ignition key. It won't be perfect, but it'll be close. At that point quite a few Honda keys will be able to open it, but it's better than any flat shaft being able to open it.
Or you can pay a locksmith $20-$40 to make a key that fits it. I bought a tank off ebay in 04 or so and paid a locksmith to open it/make a key for it because I didn't want to jam a screwdriver in it and mess it up. All the guy did was tank a blank honda key and file it down catching tumbler by tumbler. It was a "mobie pop-a-lock" type service. I met the guy at a pool hall in the middle of the day and he was drunk as **** and made the key in about 5 minutes. I've never had to do it since then, but after watching him do it I figured surely I could do the same thing, but just a bit slower. I'm sure by now there are probably youtube edus on how to do it.
I would probably just do that if you want to keep the lock in OEM condition.
