Re: 636 frame bracing (progress w/pics)

Watch that castle nut adjuster bolt, I recently ripped out my threads in the frame right there, without heattreat I would assume it would happen easier. And defiently get a impaktech cage! I'm curious to see how yours hangs with a beating compared to my heatreated one.. Eric edub down in socal, I welded his frame after he almost ripped off right motor mount.. Lasted maybe 6 months and the frame ripped apart near the neck now.. So the heattreatin I think makes a big diffrenece... Keep me posted on how it hangs up!!

Oh also.. If you didn't weld it from the inside it will break.. Did you pull engineto finish? I did my complete welding with just frame alone

Re: 636 frame bracing (progress w/pics)

Why 1/4"? I would have used at least 3/8"s and possibly even 1/2"

When I have to brace a frame thats what Im going to do....I can bend 1/4" 6061 easily, but 3/8 or 1/2 not so much..... If theres room for it why not go thicker

no welding on engine.. only thing i would possibly weld is side covers.. but only when there mounted so they dont warp. and when you do weld them they will become extrmely weak

The frame is boxed in, not just one piece of plate...the frames strength comes from it being boxed in so you cant compare the 1/8" frame material...

I make my stays out of 1/4", for frame mounts I would use something thicker personally...

And Ive seen your frame mod and if I remember correctly it looks alot thicker then 1/4"
