using idle with no hands question
i've been practicing standing staggered and letting my hands go and i can only hold it for about 3 seconds before i have to hit the gas a little... i have the idle turned up pretty high but i dont know if i need to turn it up more or be easier on the brake... it has a decent pull with the idle setting but i dont know if its too much or not high enough... any help would be great, i'm gonna ride then come back and check what you guys think.... oh yea, i'm riding a 3wheeler not a stunt bike so that might make a difference.... thanks -clutchitup21-

Re: using idle with no hands question
what type of bike, what gearing, and what is your idle set at?
Before even worrying about using no hands, practice just using just no throttle hand. That or even hanging on with both hands, but ONLY using the brake to keep it up, no throttle..
Once you can keep the bike up idling along with no throttle hand, then you can worry about no hands
btw staggard sounds hard as hell to no hand. Personally I like 1 foot on my seat, some people like their foot in their seat or their bar.

it seemed fine when i just took off my throttle hand, but when i take off the other hand the balance is different and i have to bring the wheel higher and put my chest closer to the bars, which means i have to use more pressure on the brake... thats where my issue is, it seems like i shouldn't have to use THAT much brake then the bike slows so much it stalls... its just so trick getting the idle set right with using the right amount of brake pressure... maybe it something that will take me more time and trial and error to master.. but i learn things alot faster then what its taking me to learn this...... oh and the 3wheeler is a 86 honda 200x.. all stock, great machine to learn on before moving to a bike

Re: using idle with no hands question
i practiced a little more and turned up the idle... i mainly focused on just taking off my throttle hand like you said... i was able to carry it all the way across the yard... it helped alot cuz i can hold a no hander across the yard......wish i had more room to ride... our back yard is only like a quarter acre

and keeping my chest close to the bars make a world of difference in balance

Re: using idle with no hands question
it was so funny when i first tried no handers cuz the 3wheeler has a thumb throttle (of course) and when i would let the bars go they would always fall to the right and it would smash the thumb throttle into my right knee, i learned real quick to turn them to the left then let go
and keeping my chest close to the bars make a world of difference in balance

Re: using idle with no hands question
i thought they all had thumb throttle since mine had it when i get a stunt bike i'm gonna convert it... i have it tilted down so when the bike is at bp and i'm standing, i use my index finger and pull the throttle.. it just seems like its a more comfortable position when stadning

Re: using idle with no hands question
well i haven't looped the 3wheeler yet... i had a few stunt bikes about a year and a half ago. i learned throttle and brake control then... i thought i would learn things faster if i had a 3 or 4 wheeler...
