2002 636 Question

I looked around the web but couldn't find it...is the 02 636 fuel injected? The specs say fuel is delivered through Makuni "K-Tric" but I think that is part of the throttle or pump.

The reason I am asking is that a guy I know does vehicle reconstruction and a guy didn't have the money to pay him so he give him a 2002 Kawi 636 that was laid down lightly. He wants to sell it to me for 500. Forks and frame are straight and are in good condition. He has the title but I'm not sure if it's an R Title or if it's clean. Needs left rear set, plastics and nose are messed up a bit, chain is rusty from the bike sitting but it turns over. I would offer him less & I think it might be worth it even if I just part it out. Is it FI?

Re: 2002 636 Question

I just called him again and he said it IS a 636 so I don't understand what you mean Mike.

Edit: read your post Compton, thank you. That doesn't say if it's FI or not though. Anybody know?

Re: 2002 636 Question

I dont know much about the 02 636s, but I THINK that they just took the 600 motors they had and bored them out to a 636. I would be willing to bet they are carbed, but without searching Im not 100%

No. I think most of the 636 versions were overseas with the US only getting a handful.

Re: 2002 636 Question

I'm going to have to drive over there after work and check it out for myself. I highly doubt he has a European version there. It's got to be 599cc displacement. Might still be worth buying to part it out.

Re: 2002 636 Question

Ok, I went back last night to look at the bike and just to give all of you that final word on this...it is NOT a 636. It's a zx6r 599cc. I can't explain why it says "636" on the fairings though. It doesn't look like they were just slapped on by someone. Maybe the previous owner bought ebay fairings from the UK or something. Stranger things have happened.

Thanks again for the help guys.

Re: 2002 636 Question

its a carb bike, but then again so are a ton of other bikes 2002 and before.
you can still kill it on a carburated bike, but FI is prefered and more of a standard nowa days, but that mean that a carb bike is a POS
