Re: friend wrecked my bike
Why would you let your friend borrow your bike without insurance in the first place? If I had to guess, when he gets out of the hospital and you tell him what he owes you for the bike hes probably gonna tell you to **** off. Your the one that let him take it without insurance.

Re: friend wrecked my bike
yeah that sucks... hope you're friend is ok and hopefully he gets you another bike.. Yeah you shouldn't have let him borrow it, but still he wrecked it so he shouldn't even question having to pay.
A few weeks ago a friend was riding next to me and was videoing me while on the bike and I stood it up in 2nd going about 25 and brought it a little behind bp to slow it down, and my peg folded in on me.. it's happened a few times except all the other times I was going like 5mph so I just walked with the bike. When I came off the back of the bike it came down and went towards my friends bike and took out the whole tail section.. So now I'm replacing the sub/tail etc.. so point of the story is, after he gets better he needs to figure out what he's going to do to replace your bike.

Re: friend wrecked my bike
I just really wanna know if your friend had a license or at least a permit? Hell I wanna know if he even has a CAR license??
And you still let him ride it to work knowing it's not to be on the road..

Re: friend wrecked my bike
It's not about knowing your friend, it's about human nature and what most people would do. No matter what it will put a strain on your friendship one way or another.
My best friend shot me with a 9mm. He thought the gun was empty and pointed it at me and fired from less than 10 feet away. I thought I was taking my last breaths. He doesn't even begin to understand what he did to our friendship and more importantly my life. I worked hard to get back to where I am today physically and financially. It's not like on TV.
Besides, man up...you are the one that lent it to him knowing it was not legal to be on the road and that both of you run from the cops.

Re: friend wrecked my bike
You guys must have a different "policy" when it comes to either you borrowing a bike or a friend borrowing a bike from you than we do here in Nor-Cal. Its common knowledge around here that if you borrow something.....YOU BREAK IT, YOU BUY IT. I'ld kick my friends *** after he healed up if he told me to **** off....
At the same time, if you wreck your friends bike, and his only worry is about your bike that's in worse shape then your friend, then the must not be THAT great of a friend.

Re: friend wrecked my bike
Are you really that naive to think that the justice system doesn't make mistakes? I wanna live in your perfect world! I always read about people being freed from prison after 20 + years for some bullshit they just wanted to pin some poor **** on to close a case. You think that **** doesn't happen with stuff less significant than rape / murder?

Sure it happens, justice system fails, ALL the time. But I guarantee a LOT more people actually run in their vehicle and get away, and report it stolen afterwords.. Then the amount of people that actually have their vehicle stolen, THEN get in trouble for it
I actually KNOW of a few people who have pulled that ****. A couple got caught and paid for it, and a few got off without a problem, had their parents/family go pick up their car and never turned themselves in.
But I don't know a SINGLE person who had their vehicle stolen then was taken on a highspeed chase

Re: friend wrecked my bike
Dude shouldn't have lent it out if the guy wasn't a good friend. The level of friendship SHOULDN'T have anything to do with the final outcome of who pays for the bike. Borrower wrecked it.....borrower pays for it!
I just lent my FF stunt bike to a friend to do a show with this weekend because otherwise he wouldn't have been able to ride w/ me and my boys. It's fully understood that if he breaks something....he replaces it. Should always be how it is...

Re: friend wrecked my bike
Yea well if he decided not to pay and dude took him to court guess who would win? His friend. No insurance, he had permission from the owner, this has your fucked written all over it. Hopefully he's honorable!

I'm just stating he is an idiot for letting a friend ride a 'minty' bike illegally on the road, KNOWING he is most likely to run..
And the fact his post made it seem like he is way more worried about the bike then his friend. And if your worried about your bike soo much, then why the **** would you loan it to someone in the first place, AND without insurance.
Either way you look at it, it shouldn't have been on the road illegally. Owner shouldn't have loaned it out knowingly letting it be rode on the street. He should have had insurance if this bike was soo minty, that way borrower could pay the deductible, and everything would be fine.
Going for your 'friends' throat first thing when he gets out of the hospital is fucked IMO, and really makes me ask the question "how good of a friend is he"
I'm sure when he gets out of the hospital, all bandaged up, in pain, wondering how much jail time/probation he is looking at for felony evasion, how he is gonna cover his 10 grand in medical, hes gonna be thinkin "damn can't wait tell I can get back to work to fix my friends bike!"

Re: friend wrecked my bike
all of you commenting sayin im not worried bout him... ive already went n seen him n the hospital first thing this mornin and hes doin alright for goin down at 100 mph.. hes rashed up to hell n back pretty bad and broken wrist but he's not in critical care... im very happy that my friend is still here to raise hell n party with me like we alwayz do after he gets well... juss dissapointed bout my bike thas all....no anger towards him juss towards the situation......
i think my bike got the worst of it even though my friend looks like a 3rd degree burn paitient from head to toe but my bike is destroyed with no insurance so it looks like hes gonna have a pretty expensive bill when he gets outta the hospitol.
"I mean he looks like a third degree burn patient, but dude my minty bike is destroyed with no insurance!"

I'm not saying his friend shouldn't pay for anything. But if his friend doesn't pay for it, what is the thread creator REALLY gonna do about it?
