Vortex vs. Thrust Company?

Ok, gettin ready to do a -1/+9 on the 636! Considering Vortex and Thrust Company what's the better sprocket to go with? I really like the look of the vortex, and they are offering a teflon coated black finish that is pretty sweet, but I have also heard good things about Thrust Company. What's everyone's expierence? Does one outlast the other one? Pros/Cons? Or are they pretty much the same?

Sweet! But looks like is costs slightly more than the others according to ebay standards anyway... BTW: How is the speed with that gearing, are you doing slow circles with it? Can you still hit 70-75mph on the freeway without being revved out?

Re: Vortex vs. Thrust Company?

my older vortex sprocket wasnt as durable as i hoped. once the teeth started wearing a bit, they just started breaking off. i wasnt the best about cleaning my chain, but i would get it at least every 500 miles(now i do every 250). i went out one day and had one tooth broke off. went riding and put about 100 miles on it waiting on my new sprockets to get here and came back and about half the teeth had broke off.

Thanks for the warm welcome buddy, and thanks for pointing out the obvious! I'm gonna assume you meant "have a long way to go"... If that's the case then you would be right, but i'm gonna have a **** ton of fun gettin there!!

Anyway, thanks for all of the input everyone, seems like it's just like the big four. Everyone has there preferences, but when it comes down to it there all pretty much the same, give or take a little. Thanks again!

Re: Vortex vs. Thrust Company?

I recently put on new sprockets and I went with the vortex instead of getting another thrust. I'm really liking it so far. A lot of why I chose it was because I could get it cheaper (didn't have to order an oversized rear) and look more like stock than my old gearing (previous owner went +1 +12 cause he liked the big sprocket look and I went -1+4, so it's essentially the same)

Ya, the problem is that I am coming from a 2007 GSXR 1000 and ridiculous wheelie speeds. I'd ride out my second gear standups at around 100mph. So I sold the 1000 and got the 636 to start slowin down my stunts (and so I wouldn't throw another rod bearing from oil starvation...lol). I need to find that happy medium between being able to do some slow stuff and still being able to hit the freeway to commute. I plan on ordering the -1/+9, but probably only installing the +9 to begin with...

after u get hooked hardcore(u will) take the plate off and throw on that +9 and ull never look back
