Need Some Hints...

Re: Need Some Hints...
maybe thats the reason the guy you bought the motor off of sold it is because it has issues! sorry to be mr. negativity though. definitely sounds to me like you have the hoses mixed up and the mod has not been done properly. blowby is most likely the culprit for your oil smelling like gas.
normally these excess burned and unburned fuel combination ends up in the crankcase get sucked out and into the airbox to get recycled. this is positive crankcase ventilation. it also prevents the oil from getting black and sludgy, and getting the fuel hydrocarbons on critical engine parts that will get baked on. somebody that hasnt changed their oil in a long long time or better yet their transmission fluid, you can look at the dipstick and see these caked on burn marks that are like burnt caramel. even a brand new car or bike will get some blowby and if you remove that crankcase ventilation or leave an open pipe hooked up to the crankcase it does not ventilate enough. now i know omr has told me you can rig it up so it goes out the exhaust and the exhaust creates the suction, but it sounds to me like this is what you are missing and is the main reason for your problem. i personally do not like these clean air mods and i do not do them because i do not flip my bike and if i do i will just pull the plugs and clear it out. on gixxers this used to be real big and people boasted all this horsepower you get out of it, and dyno tests have shown only 1/2 hp. steamyness will have a tendency to come out that filter you are talking about at traffic lights because the gases are trying to escape, and its embarassing. anybody thats ever owned a classic car or truck and has one of those breather fancy caps on their valve covers knows what i am talking about. and they arent gaining any great horsepower either. its all imaginary. this system was designed in mind with being kind to the environment and yeah a california man invented it, but it mainly just benefits the engine these days and is more for that reason than pollution.

Re: Need Some Hints...
you can prob. get a compression tester from like auto zone or discount or napa, usually you can borrow them with a deposit. you take one plug out screw the tester into the plug hole ( make sure you take out the fuel pump fuse *you don't want the bike to start*) crank the bike a few seconds, look at the gauge. then put the plug back in and goto the next, i'm not exactly sure what the psi should be but if you do it and they are all way different its bad.... i think it should be from around 90 - 110 psi, i could be way off, so if someone knows please correct me.

Atleast you know what your talking about, i wouldn't of ever thought of that. I think i might do that though, cuz i got a guy that will trade me a 05 rmz 250 and 06 crf50 for my bike.... i could turn around and sell both of those for more then i could get for my bike!
