new motor in my f4i its a 06 with 5000 ish miles it run nice and drive nice but idles like crap could this be a tps or anyother sensor i have my old motor i wanna take what i might need before i part it out yanno i dont have gauges so i cant see the code

no airducts but i was with a guy with no airducts last night it idled minty i think its that damn air fuel screw someone should screw theirs in all the was and count how many turns it goes in so i can cross that out of the checklist and i think that will fix it to

no its not the air/fuel screw because if it was turned down to much your bike wouldnt idle at all, it would die and if it was turned up to much your bike would idle at high rpm's. check to make sure your throttle bodies are all tight on the rubber boots and make sure the rubber boots are tight on the cylinder head. also make sure the airbox is properly in place on the throttle bodies and screwed down good and is your air filter good n clean.........

 

fuel filter=replace
fuel pressure regulator=check=possible replace
vaccum leak=check
Throttle body gapped from motor=check
Throttle body sync

 

Sync
plugs
air filter
vacume hose
all boots from air box to cyl. head...

Ducts dont matter, I dont have them and mine runs fine

 

where r u adjusting your idle? f4i's have a cold start idle screw I think thats what its called... (the one you see on the side of the bike) and if you want a true idle adjust you have to remove the tank and add one to the front of the throttle bodies. Do a search for idle adjust f4i and u will see what im talking about. If you have already done this. Turn that bitch up to 5000 and let it ride. I always rode stupid high idle on f4i's they r nutless bikes even with a 60 tooth imo

 

i had the same problem on my f4i ...it had crappy idle but above 2000 rpms it was running perfect...so i found out that of the ignition coil on 3rd cylinder was going out...replaced it problem solved...try swaping ur coils with other f4i n see if that works out for u..

i gut a 900rr idle cable in the front of the throttle bodies and the other idle screw does nothing when i turn it at all which leads me to believe its that

 

well it should definatly do somthing...........check to make sure its still threaded in where its supposed to be or mabey it stripped out.......

 

lol i literally made sure it was in i just swapped throttle bodies to the new motor ill have to go threw everything again err

still like crap i went to the honda dealership to get new plugs big mistake wanted like 25 dollars a plug 100 dollars for 4 of them they can suck a nut ill get some napa specials tomorro and change them and look everything over while my air box is off but that fast idle screw near the shifter doesnt make my bike idle up at all it controls how shitty it idles tho it goes from shitty to extra shitty depending how much i screw it in wtf fmb but i dd get to ride tonight with a surging *** idle my 3rd time riding in like almost 2 years
