Bent something?

Bent something?
Well a came down pretty hard on the lfet side of the bike the other day and now the caliper on the left side is rubbing against the rotor, these are non floating so the caliper is fixed to the fork. This os on my 03 R6.. just wondering if anyone has had this happen and what the problem was? The forks seem to be working fine and not binding up at all so i dont think its a bent fork but i could be wrong.![banghead](https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif)

Re: Bent something?
i took the caliper off and the rotor looks straight plus its not hitting on one point of the rotor its constantly pussed against it the hole way around. I will check the axel tonight when i get home from work. never thought that woould cause it tho

Blee just had this same thing happen... your axle is most likely bent. thats why your rotor rubs all the way around. replace the axle first, if the rotor wobbles then youll need to replace those too. blee had to replace his rotors...

Re: Bent something?
sit on your bike, put the bars straight and see if the tire is lining up.. alot of time the pinch bolts will let the forks rotate a bit. could be the prob. if it is loosen the upper tripple make it straight then tighten.

Re: Bent something?
+1 replace the cheap **** first...but alot of the parts like the axle and fork tubes are round (duh) so roll em on the ground back and forth to c if they are bent. And for the rotors... Take somethin straight and place it on the front of the rotor as its layin down and turn the straight piece...u will c if there bent for sure

Yup I just did that a couple weeks ago,it's a ***** to get the axel out if it got bent as bad as mine, and you got lucky if you didn't bend your rotors, put a new axel in then bolt everything back up,spin the wheel and see if the rotors are rubbing on the calipers,if your front brakes get mushy when you spin the rim, then that means your rotors are bent, the mushyness comes from the bent rotor pushing the pistons back into the caliper.

Re: Bent something?
just take yopur calipers(both) off, grab a longer bolt and thread it into the fork until it almost touches the rotor, lift the front end off the ground and spin the wheel watching both sides to see if the whole wheel or rotor wobbles or has a bigger/smaller gap from the bolt. look at the wheel from the front and top see if it wobbles at all, if nothing, unbolt the axle and turn the nut 90 degrees, tighten the axle and test again.
this will help to see if a rotor, wheel or axle is bent without actually buying parts.
also. unbolt wheel and swap the right rotor to the left side and reassemble to check for caliper rub. if no rub then its just the rotor. if it does rub, then its either the axle or the wheel itself.
if your r1 axle fits (not sure if it will but its possible) then swap that and rule out the axle first.
