Re: honda lock nut wrench for taking out the motor

you can either use a socket and a grinder and cut it down so it fits

or just use a flat head screw driver and a hammer, that's what i've done on many bikes

just fyi, a crf50 clutch nut tool works for 600rr's castle nut bolt, but no go on the f4i

+1 on the socket and grinder, takes a lil time to get it to fit correctly, but alot cheaper than the "honda specialty tool"only take ya 30 min max.and if ya fuc% up one socket, just grab another and have at it,good luck bro.

i use the hammer n screwdriver method then i loosen tighten it with a 10mm allen bit from harbor freight tah runs 4mm-10mm and is very handy, also the multi size allen stock pieces they sell on ebay or the single size hex allen stock pieces they sell come in extremely handy. i wish i could find a cheply priced set of 20mm-30mm sockets!!!

Re: honda lock nut wrench for taking out the motor

Use a 12 point socket the same size as the lock nut, the 12 point gives u the marks already there that are straight across from each other. then just cut out what u dont need with a dremel cut off wheel. You can use a 6 point but the 12 point socket makes it alot easier to make it a perfect fit

actually I usually use the biggest(thickest head) flathead i can find that fits, cause the more surface area will be harder to drive into the steel and **** up the castle nut, thats how I always tighten up then neck when that gets loose, and the nut still looks fairly good considering i have to tighten it once a weekI'm too lazy to take my bars n **** off to tighten one stupid nut.

Re: honda lock nut wrench for taking out the motor

yeah,About a month ago I loosened the top tree, took off the bars and tightened it the correct way and pushed the top tree back down tight so it wouldn't loosen up so easy, but guess what, yup, it's loose again,I just hate that lil "pop" feel when you set the front back down, prob redo it again 2morrow. did you get that nut off yet?
