Re: i fuggin failed the written.

i took the course so my family would feel better about me being on a bike so no worries there. i only got one wrong last year when i took the written but damm i failed hard this time around. i dint study coz it all happened so quick. i went there to find out if i had to take the written again and they told me i could also get the riding exam done right after passing the written so i just took it. oh well, ill take it tomorrow after reading the stupid manual and then take the riding test.

what are the tests they give for the riding test?
i remember...
quick stop
figure 8 inside a box (how big?)
evasive maneuvers
holding a lane while looking through the turn

i dont remember honestly, refresh my memory so i can practice this stuff to ensure i dont fail this too.

I had a blinker bulb out, and the dps officer was like " you know the hand signals" i said yeah this is right and this is left, I did it wrong, so I had to go get a blinker bulb before I could take it.
I just had to ride around for 4 minutes and they honked 1 or 2 to tell me which way to turn. easy as pie, no evasive or e-braking

I took the class here in Texas got a 100 on the written and a 98 on the Riding test... All cause i did not check my mirrors when i stopped like they said we had to.... I would have gotten my money back if i would have made a 100 on both i was pissed... Then only missed 1 question on the dps test... and the class i took told us something diff from what the dps test said i cant remember what it was though... All seemed like common knowledge to me.. Guess texas has it easy Lol

yeah you have to know what the booklet says. something i strongly disagreed with and they were not how it works in the real world but you gotta know the book.

when i took the rider safety course last year i scored highest in my class on both written and riding. this test was for the damm learners permit.

when i took the safety course we had a series of like 8 skills we had to pass for the road course. is it the same for the dmv rider test? or how does it differ?

you mean on the road test? been a while but i remember, left circle, right circle, figure 8, and parallel park...jk. generally i think they just wanna see you have control of the bike.
edit: complete stops and turn signal cancellation are a must.

Re: i fuggin failed the written.

ok so i passed the written exam after reading the booklet. go rocco. and then i failed miserably on the riding test. its a small course where i had to swerve through cones and make a uturn inside a box. how in the hell is it possible on a sportbike to do it inside that box?!?!? i made the mistake of adjusting my scotts to loose figuring it would help with the turn radius. WRONG. it just gave me less resistance then im used to. so i stiffened it back up and still could not get it. i need to find someone with a 250.

I did not have to take the DMV Rider text after you take the class all you have to do is the written... And I dont think we have permets for it? I could be wrong but they just gave me a new license with M on it..

they (rider safety program) gave me a certificate to get the M but i was lazy and when i finally went to have it put on my license, the cert expired like 3wks prior. so now i have to take the dmv roaqd test or pay for the damm rider safety course AGAIN. for the rider course they gave us 250s to ride. how in the hell can i pass this on a 600cc sportbike??? the turn radius isnt even enough for the uturn.

Re: i fuggin failed the written.

alright, i was out there practicing for the last4 hours and figured a couple things out. 1st is i souldnt have messed with my damper. i stiffened it back to what ive been riding with and that helped. it was like with it all the way soft it changed the timing on when to shift my weight. duh. 2nd, i was using my front breaks with brand new pads on there so again, it wanted to stop a lot quicker then i was used to. 3rd, i turned my idle up nad just used my rear brake while staying off the clutch for the cone test and uturn. the uturn is still tough cuz of the turning radius of my bike but it think ive got it.

damn these bikes were not meant for 5mph handling. ill be back there tomorrow.
