what gear should i be to practice

what gear should i be to practice
my gearing is -1 +1 so not much but i wanna start to do slow *** wheelie in the lots, should i still use 2nd gear or drop it to first. I did acouple staggered in 1st and that **** was way scary! whats your thoughts sooorry im a squid ha
