Ok, so I bought an '04 ZX6RR from this dude and he said it has a KIT ECU on it. I guess it's the same thing as a Power Commander but better, but the problem is it is currently tuned for Race Gas (This is a race bike) and it bogs pretty bad between 4-6k. I'm not going to spend $25 a tank for race gas, I want to re-tune the bike for regular pump gas, does ANYONE have any experience with these KIT ECU's?

I have read that I can retune it myself with the PC adapter, but other than that I don't know much. I called my local race shop and they want $260 for a full dyno and tune.... that sounds ridiculous to me, but maybe it's not. So fellow stunters, can anyone help me?

I have a stock ECU somewhere at home if you're interested in just swapping them out.

i had a buddy with the same problem....he just paid the money and got it tuned for wht he wanted...i think its worth it to take it to the shop..

If you swap to a stock ecu make sure its for a 6rr and not a 636 since they are different. You might be able to find more info about it on kawi forums.

So is that all it is? A "RACE" ECU instead of a "STOCK" ECU???

I also read you can piggy-back both a KIT ECU and a PCIII and through the PCIII you can tune the KIT ECU???

Based on that, it looks like it is an actual replacement ECU. From quick reading, it appears to give you a feature set similar to the PCs, it just doesn't piggyback off the main ECU which I guess is cool

I'd just try to find a stock ZX6RR ECU and swap it out (the ECU I have is for a 636).

To tune the Kawi KIT ECU you will need the KIT cable, and KIT software...And more importantly you need to know how to use the software!

So basically your best (cheapest/easiest) option is to swap back to the stock ECU

Yeah, I've already started my search for a STOCK ECU for a 6RR and that it looking to be pretty tough considering EVERYONE has a 636. Know anyone with a stock ECU?

Trust me, I didn't want a Kawi... but I had a 600RR with HIGH miles and I wanted to race this season. I came across a clean title 04 Kawi with 3400 original miles and it was ready to race in MINT condition for $3800. I can't pass up that deal man!
