How hot is too hot?
It's been really hot and humid this week and I was wondering what is the highest temps you have seen on your lot bikes,My f4i has the stock fan still wired up stock
,and my temp is steady at just under 250degrees,I run water wetter(no difference)and coolanol coolant,seems really hot to me
,I just keep doin ALOT of cool down laps,or just shut it down,I ordered a pair of 06-07 r6 fans and gonna wire one with a switch to stay on and the other like the stock fan,also gonna try header wrap,hope it helps keep it cool.I just never had any of my bikes get that hot and it got me a lil nervous.Any other tips to keep cool?

None of my bikes ever got over225-230,but then again I really haven't beat on those other bikes like I do with the f4i.I'm sure the header wrap and dual fans will do the trick,One of the guys I practice with just put on one 06-r6 fan and it sounds like a hurricane,It definately pushes a ton of air.

I had a f4i and the hottest it got was 230 and all i had was a stock fan with a switch and i was riding in 100 +!!! I would try to not let it get that hot. Does it run like crap when it gets that hot?

i understand what your saying. i'll do a few cool down laps and stop after awhile. i know when it's way to hot when the coolant boils up and sprays out the overflow tube. it's not great for the motor but it doesn't hurt it if you stop right then or put it in 6th and ride for awhile

my 636 will run up to 240 sitting still in the hot. you can feel that bastard getting hot. the guage will say h.o.t over 240ish. dosent even read past that temp. been like that for a while and never had any problems yet.

****................... it should say on the bottle. water boils at what 220? so coolant can't be much higher

I rode 3 weeks with no fan at all because it burned up...... at 276 degrees Engine Ice errupts like a volcano.... hahaha wired my fan to a switch now. no matter how hot it gets i can keep my bike at around 200.
the bike hotlapped but never gave up, but that was 2 summers ago and its still a champ...
