Cool Any opinions or discussion on the zx10.

Haven't been on in forever, kinda got outta the "Lot scene" after too many crashes and poor economy.
Still Love killing the highways from time to time though.
So, I'm selling my 954 and looking at the 04 ZX10.
Just wondering if there's any real issues I need to be aware of with the Kawi.
I'm mainly just a stand up distance wheelie kinda guy these days, I'll throw down the occasional rolling burnout, stoppie but nothing major.
I Love the high *** BP on my 954, never rode the 10 or wheelied so hoping it's similar.
Comments???

i dont know how much it happens or if it was just a fluke but, guy around here had an o4 zx10 and the frame cracked on him from just doing basic street wheelies. never crashed or layed down, just cracked on him... sick *** bike but idk if id trust it.

Wow, I've heard about the front rims being recalled on some of the 04's for "Folding".
Never heard anything on the frame.
Thanx.

Yeah I've gone through the fork seals on the 954 twice so my landing's def aren't the lightest in town. Lol

Yeah, I've heard this too bro.
Funny thing is, of all the 10's I've looked at, none have a damper.
No problem with the oil pickup like the Gixxers with long distance wheelies and engine oil starvation???

Re: Any opinions or discussion on the zx10.

yeah the 04-05 10's dont come with dampners. Funny thing is they headshake sooo easily. I've had my 04 for over a year. Strickly street bike with brembo handbrake tied into a adapter. Works great. Balance point is back there, probably further then the 954 but I wouldnt know, I've only rode the 929. I believe the 04-05 10 has the best power to wieght ratio, period. It will roll on power wheelies in 2nd gear (stock gearing all day) at LOW rpm!! I've done probably thousands of wheelies on mine and havent seen any cracks on the frame, but I did not look inside directly in front of the airbox. As long as you gas when you come down from wheelies you shouldnt have too many problems with the frame cracking. I just replaced the fork seals 6 months ago and there already leaking. I put zero degree clip ons on mine and its a world of difference. I will never go back to stock clip ons. Mine gets maybe 32mpg including reserve, ugh!! worst bike I've owned for mpg. If you can control the speed, its a great bike and for me (5'11") very comfortable, especially with the zero degree clipons. Oh and they do have notchy transmissions. If you can, get an 05, they had some positive modifications done to it.

Re: Any opinions or discussion on the zx10.

i loved my 07 and miss it badly. it was so easy to just murder the highway and stoppies were effortless once i put a good tire on the front. i think the 04-05 was nastier than mine stock, but i had motorwork that had me close to 200hp with stock wheel base

04-05 zx10 is the bizness. only other liter i like is the 08-09 zx10. kawasaki did something serious from 03-05 with the 600 and 1000. i think youll fall in love all over again on that thing.

Cool Re: Any opinions or discussion on the zx10.

Thanx for all the responses guys.
Everything I've read and heard from homies had me sold, I was just a little concerned about the stunt side, which makes up about 30% of my riding today.
I'm going to pick up an 04 with 10,000 miles, minty fresh never dropped, Sunday..I'm so stoked!!!

Re: Any opinions or discussion on the zx10.

I love highway rollin on litrebikes. The kwakka and yammy litre bikes are my fav. I've never heard of frame cracks from general wheelies. I even had the 05 gsxr1000 that never had a frame problem. Run a lil more oil in em and it'll wheelie forever. Have fun bro!!!!

Cool Re: Any opinions or discussion on the zx10.

Just a lil update.
I picked her up Sunday and I'm really warming up to the bike today after a good 120 miles tonight.
Gonna need a list of things to bring it up to speed.
Fix the damn exhaust, the douch removed some baffling to make it louder...duh...compression. Lol
New shorty levers.
Geared up Vortex +2 1-
Chain.
DB screen.
And a suspenion job should help alot.
Couple pics.

I'm gonna chill for a bit...Learn the bike and get the new gear and exhaust fixed before getting her up any.
