Great stabilizer for under $100.00 (636 pics)

I used to ride a gsxr and the stock stabilizers are pretty good for the street. You can drain them and re-fill with 40 wt fork oil, and they work great for stunting. I rolled 400-500ft stoppies all day and never once crossed up or tank slapped. Just like most of us i didnt have 400 bucks layin around for a new stabilizer when i got my new 636. So i got creative. this also works for f4i (easier).

so what i did was got 2 steel L bracket's from the hardware store and cut one in half. since on the 03-04 kawi lower triple tree bolts are on the side you have to weld a straight piece coming off the L bracket as shown in the pics below. Now drill a hole in the ram air tube about 1 cm from the front and about 1cm to the left (if standing in front of the bike) and thats about the perfect place to mount as it gives you full travel of the stabilizer and full range of steering for the bike. (better do a mach up before you drill just in case) use spacers to make sure the stabilizer is level when wheel is straight and tighten up. im sure ill find a way to make this look cleaner but this is what i got after about 20 min.

I think your going to need a thicker tab with a better weld, you'd be surprise how much tension is on the stabilizer, but other than that looks pretty sweet, I got one on my f4.

Haven't yet, just got it mounted tonight.

But... it feels awesome just like it did on the GSXR. I'll post more comments up later after I ride.

I can't wait to have brackets made, I have a sick Sprint damper that came off my 01' gsxr that has like 8 settings.

I want to try this cause I get alot of head shake when rolling stoppies, and i def. aint got the 4 bills for a dampner. But i guess if my fat *** would lose about 40 lbs. i wouldnt be so top heavy lol.

i have them both as well. i dont think it holds any more then the older one do. it just has a screw in the bottom of it to help change the fluid out instead of taking it all apart

ahem, im not sure. i run sf soooooo. but if i can remember right if you were to run ff you would have to make a notch in your ram air tube so it can slide around the bolt holding the stabilizer. but other than that i would think it should fit with minor adjustments
