600rr no vin question
Hey guys. I found a 600rr for a good $$$, but theres a problem. THeres no vin on the neck from what the guy says. He says it was a stock track bike. It does not come with a title either. Is there any other place on the frame with the vin number? OR can i check if its not stolen using the engine vin? Should i take it to a police station and have them check it? Can he write me a bill of sale if theres no vin#? Thanks
oh and I'm gonna use is as a lot bike. no streets.

Re: 600rr no vin question
did you ask him why theres no vin on the neck? does it look like someone ground the vin numbers off? run the engine numbers and see if it comes up clean or not. if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Re: 600rr no vin question
it will eventually bite you in the ***. if at any point in time the popo rolls up on you and tries to check that **** which will happen believe me, you are fucked. it doesnt matter what the engine numbers are, that is something that can be replaced in a matter of hours, its not that hard. gawd there is such thing as a stupid ******* question! why do you think there are no vin#'s ? by a mere coincidence? if everyone worked hard for everything in life instead of taking the easy way out and supporting people who steal things then there would not be anyone out there stealing things because there would be zero profit in it because everyone would say **** you and the horse you rode in on i aint buying that ****.

Re: 600rr no vin question
There is no such thing as a stock race bike with no numbers
check it this way.
1. Was the whole frame repainted or powder coated? If not and the neck is the same color then put some lacquer thinner on rag and rub were the vin is suppose to be if paint rubs off walk away from it.
2. You can buy frame blanks from the dealer so ask the guy for the receipt of the blank frame he bought if he does not have it then walk away.
3. If the vin sticker was removed and there is no vin then it is obvious you need to walk away from it!
4. If you have a good eye and the bike is still stock take a look at the engine bolts and see if they have ever been wrenched on if not and there is not vin or sticker then you need to walk away from!
5. Ask if the motor was replaced if it is the orignal motor with numbers then there should be numbers on the frame as well. That being said you should walk away!
There is a few more tricks to tell but these are the simple ones!
Just be careful!

Re: 600rr no vin question
Yea he said its not hot and can give me the bill of sale. But what's he going to put as vin? Sounds shady. Think I'm gonna pass on this one. Although it would still be a good deal if i swapped the frame.
ITs this one: http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/mcy/1218702421.html Doesn't look like it was laid at 5mph too lol.
I ment before i buy it lol

Re: 600rr no vin question
dont even bother with it. that ************ stole it from someone...dropped it while stealing it(reason for the scratched plastics and rashed stator)...then ground off the numbers. turn that ****** in and have his worthless *** put behind bars.
and all bikes(even track bikes) have vins. they just dont have the title.
