Brembo 16x18 Vs. Magura 13mm
Anyone have any experience with both the brembo 16x18 and the magura 13mm. i'm finally going to upgrade my hb from my 04R1 front master to one of these setups, just curious on what people like better. I hear the feel of the brembo is awesome and i have heard the magura is almost the same. Just not sure if thats true. I can pickup a good deal on a new brembo, and i see the maguras for sale for about 200. If the brembo is the better master i would certainly rather spend a couple extra bucks to get the better of the 2. i'm running an adapter setup now but will be going to a dual 4 piston setup soon.
Thanks for any opinions in advance.

I have the brembo on my bike and i love it my buddy has the magura and he likes it. i think the 13mm is a little squishier then the brembo. i would go with the brembo but they are both great set ups and if your running a dual piston it will lock up quick and easy.

u wouldnt be dissapointed in either, ive rocked them both and theyre both good masters. but for a 4 piston i would go with the brembo or the magura 16mm as the 4 pistons use much more fluid so i think the 13mm would be too squishy on the 4 piston setup.

I like the Magura 13mm a little better than the 16x18. I prefer the softer feel.....its more progressive and gives more feedback. My 13mm is no more softer w/ the 4 piston than it was w/ the adapter setup.

I just got the brembo 16x18 clutch master cylinder with foldable lever. I also have the hohey dual caliper bracket. And it locks up and fills better than any other handbrake I have owned. I have not tried magura but you will not be upset with brembo. You pay for what you get.

Thanks for the insight guys, i personally feel my 04 R1 master is a little stiff, after ridin in the lot quite a bit my hand starts to cramp up and eventually i can't pull the brake hard enough to bring me back down and i have to step off. But at the same time when i'm street stuntin i love it and it always feels like it has plenty of power and grab to keep me well under control no matter what i'm doing. Not sure if i would like the super squishy magura either. Guess i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Lots of things can make a setup bad, I've felt setups that felt like **** because they were running an adapter with 16x18 on the outside (closer to the barend) The 4 piston alone is going to be a huge step up.
Also, I rather spend my money on more powerful calipers in the rear, as that's less prone to getting damaged than your master. I'd say make sure your master it mounted as good as possible, try out the 4 piston upgrade first, and if it's still not enough power, then upgrade your mc.

Re: Brembo 16x18 Vs. Magura 13mm
My hb is on the inside towards the triple and my msr is on the outside. The fitment is perfect i can clutch and hb with each one finger very easily. my 04R1 master is made by brembo and is the exact same setup for a close fit just like a 16x18 brembo. I wont be upgrading to the 4 piston caliper setup right away tho, i will probably end up running it with the adapter setup for most of the summer, but will soon enough to upgrading to an 05 or 06 636 and sellin my 03, thats when i will be upgrading to the 4 piston setup.
