New sprocket?

I have a 02 gsxr 750 that I bought with a 2+ rear sprocket. I think my chain is worn out as I tightened it today and it went right back to being lose. My question is should I upgrade sprockets while I'm at it? If so how big. Stock gearing is 17/42. My bike is 17/44

Re: New sprocket?

I guess I should have said I can take this as an opportunity to change sprockets if it would better suit me to start stunting. I won't mind buying a new chain if required for a new sprocket

Re: New sprocket?

if you going to put new sprokets then replace it all. Other wise you old chain will wear you new sprockets out, so if you can afford it do it right

Re: New sprocket?

Naa dont worry about the chain, just cut some links or either way if u r planning 2 add more bigger sprocket then you will have to add more links from your old chain if u get new chain. it doesnt matter or make any difference really.

sounds like a chain that just wont resist stretch. had one of those last year, everyday i was adjusting it, get a 530 conversion of you want the most robust chain available.....and not a cheap one either, x-ring or o-ring are good to go. vortex got what you want for a rear sprocket, your dealer should have a -1 for your front for approx 15-20 bones ...

Re: New sprocket?

some guys rock the 520, but I like the 530's. honestly i can't say what the benefiet is, i just ordered my rear vortex and dumped a tooth on the front and kept my bike 530.
