Ya man staggard, but SS is way easier. Just rev it up hard and drop the clutch and let off the gas if you gave it enough throttle it'll float if not you didn't give it enough.

Re: How did you guys learn idle???

i learned staggered and foot in seat and sitdowns. dont do the same thing everytime you will get annoyed. i have my idle set at 3k. pull up from a dead stop or barely rolling and keep your left leg straight if your doin staggered that helped me a ton. if you have your leg bent your hangin on to the bike for your life and get arm pump bad and cant ride more than a hour lol.

Re: How did you guys learn idle???

I learned idle on both staggared and sitdown,I cranked my idle up to bout 4300 so when i clutched up to bp from a stop, the bike would keep wanting to go back, the main thing I was doin wrong was I was givin it to much brake, once I got lighter on the brake I got it quik. Then I kept turnin down the idle till i got it down to bout 2900.

Staggered

FIB is definitely easier, but you have to commit and clutch it up. If you get caught chasing BP while FIB, it wants to get squirrely

idle around 3

Re: How did you guys learn idle???

i'm thinking about building a cheater peg to make it feel like i'm not leaning back so far... the rear peg on an f4/f4i is right behind the rear set so it feels like i'm just standing on the rider pegs basically

The f4i has some of the roomiest rear pegs

yeah but it seems like when your getting up to bp .. i feel like i'm falling off the back of the bike ... it feels like doing a stand up wheelie on a 4 wheeler where you hold on all with your arms rather than having pressure on your leg like a cheater peg would do

You just have to get out there and ride and see what works best for you, keep clutching it up over and over from a stop, trying to hit BP. Keep your idle raised and cover the RB, and eventually you will hit idle, your bike will float on its own.

yeah i wouldnt dare try FIB unless you already like it. That **** is easier to control but is super squirely if your not ready for it.

Id say whatever way you practice wheelies is the way you should practice idle, unless you been trying ,for example sitdowns, forever then you might wanna try stand up. As long as you got basic brake skills, ie you actually use the brake somewhat during every wheelie.
Just start bringing it back more and more each time.

I had the same problem when I started catching idle (staggered, hanging off the bike, left leg bent waaaay too much). Stand up straight and get closer to the tank as you clutch it up (in one motion), try to get that left leg straighter - took some weight off my arms and felt more in control...

oh and i learned staggered, idle 3500, let it fall back and be smoooooth on the brake.. ride ride ride you'll get it
