I'm 17 and i dropped out of high school my freshman year. I'm getting my GED this summer and im wanting to go to college and become a motorcycle technician. But im having a lot of trouble finding a school that offers a program for it around my area. I can't go to florida or arizona (UTI) for schooling, but i need to get my life on track.

so if any of you have any ideas please please please help!!

Yeah.... My boy is at MMI right now and LOVES it!! To bad you cant go there.... I would say just call up your local colleges and ask em what programs they have.. I almost went to MMI and then decided to stay in Vegas, called around and there are NO schools here for motorcycle mechanics.... Sucks but I don't think I wanna be a grease ball anyways...

They have scholarships and loan programs,

But their really arent many other schools other then wyotech, mmi, uti try working at a shop like suggested but you will find your going to be fighting an up hill battle always sweeping floors and stuff. You need to try and get into the school

i heard them schools were not worth the money anyways and you come out and only have general knowledge of a motorcycle thats what you are put under its all bullshit im just now getting out of high school bro and lucky my best friend owns a shop and is letting me work for him and learn more as i go. So to be honest if you havent been around it your whole life and know people (like me) or go one of them schools and pay 30k and get out and make 13 dollars an hour at a dealership. I think you should probably find something else. Sorry but the truth man.... or just go wreck your **** alot and fix it yourself ha

 

Those people that told you that those schools aren't worth it are the people that go to those schools, graduate, and expect a job paying 100,000 a year to be handed to them or they give up... They don't realize that you still have to start at the bottom.... You don't just start at the top cause you went to school... The first week my friend was there he told me they tore apart a whole motor and tranny down to nuts and bolts and then put it all back together to perfect running condition.. Thats in the FIRST WEEK! He's there for 18 months.... You really think he's gonna just learn the basics?! Im not trying to come off as a ***** Im just putting my .02 in here.... I have 3 guys I know personally that graduated from there, 2 are lead mechanics for race teams and 1 works at harley making REALLY good money.... And they know there ****!! Just wish they lived here to help me out!! LoL

good to know about those schools Ive been looking to get out of Mi since i got out of HS and was thinking about going to MMI or wyotech.

shops dont want someone who went to school and got a certificate, they want someone with shop experience..... and no... the school doesn't count

I graduated from MMI and I make $22,000 a year, life's good! I just bought a new truck, well its not brand new, its a 93, its new to me, and we just got the wife's Ford Tempo tuned up. Thanks to Obama, we're doing pretty well for ourselves but I give most of my thanks to my teacher at MMI. He touched me.... literally.

 

But How Much do you have in school loans????

 

oh ****....... I dunno, it was around $55,000 but I dont have to pay it back, ever! Thanks to Obama getting into office... some new policy he came up with. hes a good man! I voted for change, and thats what I got!

 

So people with student loans don't ever have to pay them back????
