sprockets

im new with stunting and **** i wanna get into it without loosing 25% of my top speed. anyway i was looking around at my local bike shop talking to couple of guys and i said i might be interested in new sprockets for easier wheelies and the had a set for $200 54 tooth sprocket and i believe it was 14 in the front dd chain both sprockets are made by thrust company. basically what i wanna do is make it easier wheelie will this set up sprockets do that? what are the cons if i switch to this size of sprockets. thanks alot i appreciate it!

Re: sprockets

You should be able to pop it up from a dead stop, just rev it higher

Re: sprockets

first please get the notion out of your head that sprockets are going to give you wheelie skills or make them easier for you. they wont. stock bikes wheelie just fine without any change, i havent set up my r6 yet and im running a totally stock setup minus the clip ons being flipped and i have no problems doing anything, street wheelies, highway, circles, no hander ****. the only thing a larger sprocket is going to provide you with is more engine brake and a bit of an easier clutch up. which can be a good or bad thing to a new rider. your bike will be come more twitchy and if you dont have decent throttle control it can slow down your learning process. when i learned idle it was on a totally stock 04 750 and i learned it in a day. with all that being said, after many many diff setups i have found that +7 rear is a good all around gearing for streets and lot for most all bikes ive had. you will lose about 18% of your top end which is not even noticeable as how often do you find yourself at 165mph? when your crusing at 70 mph on the highway your rpms will be around 9k where stock gearing i think is like 7500? so see how many teeth is on your stock sprocket, i cant tell you cuz i dont know what year your gsxr is and then just add 7 to it and you will be pretty happy.
