can you elaborate on this? i am currently in a situation where I bought a bike, it has a clean title, not stolen, but the previous owner never registered it and lost the title.

All you need to do is claim a lost title.. You don't need to do the mechanics lien.... Thats only if the title has a lien on it and whoever you bought it from still owes someone money..... Then the mechanic can put his own lien on it and after a few months of BS, he can apply for a title to the bike because "Nobody came to pick it up and didn't pay for it" The bank or whoever that has the original lien wont usually wanna pay the mechanic and will just give him the title.....

my buddy bought a frame off ebay and the two front motor mount welds were cracked on the inside paypal only gave him the option to ship the frame back. and that didnt alot of good sense it was the last one on ebay at the time and so yea that sucked spend 1000 to only have to go work on something you shouldnt have to

make sure it's not stolen.that is most cases with no tittle.
