Re: Different 636's compare?

I've had several of the various years mentioned. I think the 05-06 is the way to go. My only hate is the tank.
Everything about the 05-06 is better IMO. Nobody will be able to give a legitimate reason not to get the 05-06 other thank a weak subframe (which i've scraped my exhaust to hell and back with no issues)

Im staying with 03-04 for now (Bikes not set up yet) But will let you know if mine ever break and on the swing arm i have no clue thats what i was wanting to know..

Re: Different 636's compare?

edit:

actually. get the 05-06 if you won't be beating the hell out of it. The 03-04 can take more abuse. But the 05-06 is a better bike. I think the 636's all together feel really small, and I know your a bigger guy. Might have some problems jumpin to hc an such

Re: Different 636's compare?

I've owned (3) 03'-04's and (1) 06'. The 06 felt big, bulky, & heavy to me + seemed to have a higher balance point. It's not heavier, just feels that way. Also the front fairing seemed like it went on forever. lol
Other than looks the 05'-06' swingarm it doesn't really do anything except maybe put the balance point a tad higher.
03'-04' subframe is way easier to access, remove fairing, tail light, etc. Plus it's stronger.
03'-04' tank is easier to pop up & remove.

05'-06' may have better forks, I've only heard of a couple 03'-04's snappin out of how many thousands of these bike are on the road and track. The 04' I just sold had 21k on the clock with no issues. My next 636 (03'-04') will I upgrade to the 05'-06' forks, you bet, but I wouldn't pick one over the other just because of the forks.

I personally like the look of the 03'-04' over the 05'-06', but if you like the 05'-06', cool.

This has been my experience with both, but there's guys rocking every bike out, just need to pick the one you like.

Re: Different 636's compare?

I like my 05/06. But I have never riding the 03/04. Yet a lot of pros and up and coming guys I ride with down here are going to the 03/04 or already have them and love them.
I bought tony Prez 05/06 and now hes on a 03/04. Old Man Roger is on a 03/04 so is Dustin/ Secret Weapon and a **** load of guys that are starting to come up have switched to them as well. I don't know whats so much better then the 05/06? I am gonna start asking tonight at the spot. I feel like im missing out on something...

Are there any specific up/downs of certain year 636's? i mean are there benefits to getting 03/04 vice 05/06?
03-04 great for stunts, 05-06 great for twisties

so why would you want that?

my old 05 600rr had a really high BP, made 12's easy but everything else a bit harder, i didnt like having the really high BP.

Is it stronger or something?

jared i already told you what to do, but... the 03/04 feels like a freestyle bmx, the 05/06 is like a mountain bike, and not the hella expensive ones but maybe the mid level ones though
