question about protecting paint.

Hey, rattle canned and airbrushed my bike this winter, Ill get pics shortly but had one question. Is there any kind of clear coat they make from a rattlecan that can protect the paint if gas spills on it? I spilled a couple drops on my fiddy filling up once and the rattle canned paint just bubbles and lifts up if gas touches it. I got it clear coated and waxed but I was wondering if anyone knows of anything to further protect it.
Thanks

look up the brand of spray paint you used and see if they make a clear.

I know krylon makes a clear

I got like 5 coats of rattle can clear on it but if gas touches it it bubbles right up and peels off. O well

Re: question about protecting paint.

don't know about clear but krylon fusion holds up to gas pretty well. It will kinda leave a slight cloudy look when it touches but doesn't peel or bubble, and is hardly noticeable. try that next time if you can't afford to do paint right away... I've never once had good luck with clear out of a can for anything.

Re: question about protecting paint.

thats what i used krylon fusion... it does an alright job of holding up but if i dont wipe it off right away or catch it then it bubbles upl. Im repainting over the winter again next year. I got all this year to f it up.

Re: question about protecting paint.

Use Montana spray paint. I have spilled gas and it has dried up. When I cleaned it up the paint still looked new.
