I have a JVC 510 model. It has a digital camera built in ( not great but it does the job ) . Its a mini DV type. I like it alot and its been in use for 2 years without any problems . Thats my 2 cents .

I used my dads hi 8 for a week then went and bought the mini DV camera. The quality was like night and day !!!! . My buddy just bought a jvc similar to mine off ebay for $300 ( had all kinds of extra goodies ) .

I bought a MiniDV and then wanted to get one of those mini cameras to use to film while riding BUT my camera did not have an A/V INPUT ony an output so that's just one thing to consider unless you are going to be holding the camera or someone else is going to be filming from a car.
I have a JVC Mini DV with digital zoom I think its model GR-DVL810. Mini DV lets you import your vids to a computer for editing later. Mini DV's are getting cheaper though I bought mine open box at Best Buy for $400 about 1 year ago. Now that's how much it goes for online.
